Plastic pollution in aquatic ecosystems has become a critical global environmental challenge, threatening biodiversity, water quality, and human health. This study investigates macroplastics distribution and characterization in the highly polluted Klang River, Malaysia, and proposes a protocol to compute total macroplastic yield in the river basin. A total of 240 macroplastic items were collected over a 20-km stretch from the river mouth inland, with an average of 0.

Digital mental health interventions offer promising opportunities to reduce these large treatment gaps, but interventions specifically tailored for Ugandan adolescents are limited.
Objective: This study aimed to determine the feasibility and acceptability of the Kuamsha program, an intervention delivered through a gamified app with low-intensity telephonic guidance, as a way to promote mental health among adolescents from the general population in Uganda.
Background: Diabetes mellitus-induced erectile dysfunction (DMED) responds poorly to first-line treatments, necessitating the development of new therapeutic strategies. Relaxin-2 (RLX-2) plays a crucial role in protecting vascular endothelium, vasodilatation, and antifibrosis in various diseases. However, its effects and mechanisms on DMED remain unclear.

: Currently, there is a significant lack of effective pharmacological agents for the treatment of breast cancer. Acylglycerol Kinase (AGK), a lipid kinase, has been found to be aberrantly expressed in breast cancer and is closely associated with tumor proliferation, migration, and invasion. However, no clinical anti-tumor drugs specifically targeting this kinase have been developed.

Objectives: Diphtheria, a highly contagious disease that can be prevented through vaccination, is emerging in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, an area known for its instability, which presents a severe risk of becoming an epidemic. This is particularly concerning, as the Government of Pakistan intends to send (push back, actually) Afghan refugees back to Afghanistan. This research aims to study the outbreak from an epidemiological perspective and suggest ways to manage it.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted between 1st January 2009 to 31st June 2019 including patients treated with IM nail for distal tibial metaphyseal fractures. Patients were divided into 2 groups based on whether a poller screw was placed during surgery or not.
In Nigeria, traditional medicine, commonly called "Maganin Gargajiya," holds a significant place in the healthcare system and is widely used due to its cultural relevance, accessibility, and perceived efficacy. This review seeks to evaluate whether traditional medicine is a net benefit or risk to public health. It will explore the pros, such as the care provided by traditional healers, and the cons, including delays in seeking conventional treatment and the potential health risks associated with unregulated herbal remedies.

Consequently, there has been little research conducted on the environmental impact of radiation exposure from different petrologic units in this region. Hence, the 13 petrologic components of the area that comprises of the migmatites-gneiss (MG), banded gneiss (BG), biotite-hornblende granites (OGe), porphyritic biotite-hornblende granites (OGp), charnockytes (Ch), ignimbrites (JYG), basalts (bb), Keri-Keri Formation (KK), Gombe Sandstones (GS), Pindiga Formation (PS), Yolde Formation (YL), Bima Sandstones (BS), and alluvium (AL) deposits were assessed using aero-radiometric data (equivalent uranium, equivalent thorium, and percentage potassium radio-elements) acquired by Nigerian geological survey agency (NGSA) in 2009.

Methods: We reviewed various studies that highlighted the role of ALKBH5 in colorectal cancer (CRC). This includes the impact of ALKBH5 on tumor cell behavior including immune system interactions, invasion, and proliferation in CRC.
Introduction The most common degenerative joint disease in adults is osteoarthritis. The gold standard treatment option for this aging society with greater functional demands is total knee arthroplasty. The Oxford Knee Score (OKS) assesses factors such as stiffness, pain, function, satisfaction, and quality of life, allowing you to quantify treatment success after surgery.

The function of APOE, the key constituent of lipoprotein particles that transport cholesterol and lipids in the brain, is dependent on lipidation by ABCA1, a cell-membrane cholesterol transporter. ABCA1 transcription is regulated by liver X receptors (LXR): agonists have been shown to increase ABCA1, often accompanied by unwanted lipogenesis and elevated triglycerides (TG).

A total of 1655 female main caregivers with 2370 children (6-59 months old) were included. Data on household dietary diversity score and child dietary diversity score indicators were collected from all households.

Patients with diabetes have an approximately 25% risk of developing progressive renal disease. The underlying principles of DN control targets the dual outcomes of blood glucose regulation through sodium glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT 2) blockade and hypertension management through renin-angiotensin-aldosterone inhibition.

Methodology: A prospective cohort study was conducted including 53 patients from May 2023 to September 2023. All patients underwent unilateral TKA and were divided into two groups based on surgeon preference of deflating tourniquet, Group A consisted of patients in whom the tourniquet was deflated before wound closure for haemostasis and Group B consisted of patients in which tourniquet was deflated after wound closure and compressive dressing.
Biofiltration is a method of pollution management that utilizes a bioreactor containing live material to absorb and destroy pollutants biologically. In this paper, we investigate mathematical models of biofiltration for mixing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) for instance hydrophilic (methanol) and hydrophobic ( -pinene). The system of nonlinear diffusion equations describes the Michaelis-Menten kinetics of the enzymic chemical reaction.

Background Meniscal tears are a common injury in the adult population. With the advent of newer devices, the adoption of the all-inside repair technique has been expanding substantially because of its feasibility and reduced risk to surrounding neurovascular structures. This study was conducted in a lower middle-income country to assess the functional outcome of the arthroscopic all-inside technique and to identify the potential factors that may affect the functional outcome that will eventually influence the future management of these patients.

The mechanical properties of 3D-printed black carbon fiber HTPLA components are crucial for assessing their structural integrity and performance. The shrinkage and dimensional accuracy of the 3D-printed parts were also explored using a vernier caliper.

The use of robots for removing both benign and malignant retroperitoneal tumors is considered safe and feasible. However, there is insufficient evidence to determine whether robotic retroperitoneal tumor resection (RMBRs) is superior to open retroperitoneal malignant resection (OMBRs).
