Background: The Electrocardiogram (ECG) can be visualised either in a scalar form, as waves in the standard 12‑lead ECG, or vectorially, as vector loops in different planes in the Vectorcardiogram (VCG). An Electro-Vectorcardiogram (ECG-VCG) is a graphic visualization combining scalar and vector ECGs. We aimed to assess if integrating the scalar 12‑lead ECG and vector ECG makes ECG interpretation by medical students more accurate, faster, and easier than using 12‑lead ECG alone.

Longitudinal Echocardiographic Follow-Up of a Pediatric Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome Cohort.

Objective: Significant involvement of the cardiovascular system is known in multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C). This study aimed to examine the recovery of affected cardiovascular parameters over a medium-term follow-up.

Objectives: To compare the electrocardiographic characteristics between LBBP-CRT and LOT-CRT MATERIALS AND METHODS: Patients with non-ischemic cardiomyopathy (NICMP) and left bundle branch block (LBBB) with left ventricular ejection fraction <35% who underwent implantation of an atrial lead, a left bundle lead, and a coronary sinus lead were included in this prospective study. Digital 12-lead electrocardiograms were recorded in three pacing modes-AAI, DDD with pacing from the LBB lead (LBBP-CRT), and DDD with pacing from both left bundle and coronary sinus leads (LOT-CRT).

Sweet Taste Signaling: The Core Pathways and Regulatory Mechanisms.

Sweet taste, a proxy for sugar-derived calories, is an important driver of food intake, and animals have evolved robust molecular and cellular machinery for sweet taste signaling. The overconsumption of sugar-derived calories is a major driver of obesity and other metabolic diseases. A fine-grained appreciation of the dynamic regulation of sweet taste signaling mechanisms will be required for designing novel noncaloric sweeteners with better hedonic and metabolic profiles and improved consumer acceptance.

An open label randomized clinical trial of Indomethacin for mild and moderate hospitalised Covid-19 patients.

Indomethacin, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), has been presented as a broad-spectrum antiviral agent. This randomised clinical trial in a hospital setting evaluated the efficacy and safety of this drug in RT-PCR-positive coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients. A total of 210 RT-PCR-positive COVID-19 patients who provided consent were allotted to the control or case arm, based on block randomisation.

Methodology And Findings: The cytotoxic effects of a biogenic polyamine analogue - norspermidine - and its trinuclear Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes - Pd(3)NSpd(2) and Pt(3)NSpd(2), respectively - were investigated in one immortalized normal-like and three breast cancer cell lines. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) core protein is known to modulate apoptosis and contribute to viral replication and pathogenesis. In this study, we have identified a Bcl-2 homology 3 (BH3) domain in the core protein that is essential for its proapoptotic property. Coimmunoprecipitation experiments showed that the core protein interacts specifically with the human myeloid cell factor 1 (Mcl-1), a prosurvival member of the Bcl-2 family, but not with other prosurvival members (Bcl-X(L) and Bcl-w).

Chelerythrine induces apoptosis through a Bax/Bak-independent mitochondrial mechanism.

Although murine embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs) with Bax or Bak deleted displayed no defect in apoptosis signaling, MEFs with Bax and Bak double knock-out (DKO) showed dramatic resistance to diverse apoptotic stimuli, suggesting that Bax and Bak are redundant but essential regulators for apoptosis signaling. Chelerythrine has recently been identified as a Bcl-xL inhibitor that is capable of triggering apoptosis via direct action on mitochondria. Here we report that in contrast to classic apoptotic stimuli, chelerythrine is fully competent in inducing apoptosis in the DKO MEFs.
