Aim: Immature granulocytes show bone marrow activation before neutrophil response and there are studies in the literature showing that the number of immature granulocytes is an auxiliary marker in the diagnosis and treatment of different diseases. The Delta Neutrophil Index (DNI), Immature Granulocyte Count (IGC) have previously been studied as markers in thyroid and breast cancers. The aim of this study was to determine whether immature granulocyte IGC and DNI values measured in preoperative blood parameters have a diagnostic benefit for the detection of advanced colon cancer.

Background: Nocturnal hypoglycaemia is a burden for people with diabetes, particularly when treated with multiple daily injections (MDI) therapy. However, the characteristics of nocturnal hypoglycaemic events in this patient group are only poorly described in the literature.
Method: Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data from 185 study participants with type 1 diabetes using MDI therapy were collected under everyday conditions for up to 13 weeks.
Introduction: Monitoring LDL-C levels is essential in clinical practice because there is a direct relation between low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels and atherosclerotic heart disease risk. Therefore, measurement or estimate of LDL-C is critical. The present study aims to evaluate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Explainable AI (XAI) methodologies in predicting LDL-C levels while emphasizing the interpretability of these predictions.

Any prolonged posture leads to static loading of soft tissues and causes discomfort. Seated posture leads to inactivity causing an accumulation of metabolites, accelerating disk degeneration and musculoskeletal pain.

In this study, the effect of heating on venous glucose concentrations and CGM accuracy was investigated. A heating pad set to 50°C (122°F) was used with 20 participants to heat either the dominant or nondominant arm and hand.

In this study, iron oxide nanoparticles were synthesized from extract and used to remove nafcillin, which exhibits toxic properties in aqueous solutions. To understand the adsorption behavior of naphcillin on the nanoadsorbent, the optimum conditions, kinetics and isotherm of adsorption were studied in detail. It was found that the adsorption process was consistent with the pseudo-second order kinetic model and Langmuir's isothermal model.

Background: Hydatid cyst may remain asymptomatic for several years or may become complicated. The aim of this study is to evaluate the patients who were operated on for liver hydatid cyst in our clinic and the results of preoperative or postoperative complications.
Methods: The data of 836 patients who underwent surgery (n = 750) or Puncture, Aspiration, Injection, and Re-aspiration (n = 86) for hydatid cyst disease in our clinic between January 2006 and January 2021 were evaluated retrospectively.
Objectives: The most frequent postoperative morbidity following living donor liver transplant is biliary complications, which can happen for both anatomical and procedural reasons.
Materials And Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of 104 patients who were living liver donors undergoing hepatectomy from January 2011 to April 2022. We evaluated all perioperative finding such as age, sex, remnant liver volume, biliary anatomy, theduration of operation time and hospitalization, and blood loss.
Objectives: In this paper, it was tried to determine the incidence of COVID-19, course of the disease, and mortality rate in liver transplant patients by evaluating all patients operated on in our center. In addition, the results of liver transplantation performed in our center during the pandemic period were also presented.
Material And Methods: All patients who had undergone liver transplantation in our liver transplant center were questioned about their history of COVID-19 either at their routine controls in the clinic or by phone interview.
Human and animal vector-borne diseases, particularly mosquito-borne diseases, are emerging or re-emerging worldwide. Six invasive mosquito (AIM) species were introduced to Europe since the 1970s: , , , , and . Here, we report the results of AIMSurv2020, the first pan-European surveillance effort for AIMs.

Biological parameters such as MDA, 8-OHdG, apoptosis (caspase-3), and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) were studied to determine the toxic effects on the brain tissue of the model organism () exposed to high dose lithium. According to the results obtained, it was found that lithium exposure caused oxidative stress with an increase in MDA level over time and, accordingly, DNA damage and apoptosis occured in brain tissue.

Background: Peptic ulcer perforation (PUP) is one of the cause of acute abdomen, incidence of this entity is 5% of all abdominal emergencies. Numerous prognostic factors have been reported for morbidity and mortality after PUP, this study attempts to analyze the factors affecting mortality and morbidity in patients with PUP.
Methods: The medical record of patients who were operated for PUP in our clinic was retrospectively evaluated between January 2008 to January 2018.
Objective: Whether the method of birth affects the factors that contribute to the birth satisfaction of women is controversial. But, the importance of positive birth experience perception in perinatal care is increasing. This study aimed to examine women's birth satisfaction and the affecting factors in a university hospital.

The aim of this study is to compare the morbidity, post-operative pancreatic fistula (POPF), and mortality rates of the cases we have from the learning period for minimally invasive PD and our previous open PD cases with similar fistula risk scores (FRSs).
Methods: Patients with similar age, ASA score, pre-operative drainage, and FRS were included in the study.
Background: This study aimed to investigate the utility of immature granulocyte count and percentage on the prediction of suspected acute appendicitis according to the Alvarado scoring system and its effect on the need for computed tomography scanning.
Methods: Adult patients who had an Alvarado scoring system between 4 and 7 with the first imaging technique computed tomography were included and retrospectively analyzed. The immature granulocyte count and granulocyte percentage were obtained from the blood samples taken at the time of the patient's first admission to the hospital.

The recent introduction of a large number of synthetic dyes, which are toxic, mutagenic, and carcinogenic, has made the situation worse by disrupting normal aquatic life. For this reason, the detection and removal of dyestuffs in wastewater become important. In this study, for the extraction of methylene blue, used as solid phase extraction adsorbent, lignocellulosic biosorbent of tea waste activated with ZnCl was prepared.

It has been associated with neurological disorders more frequently than other solid organ transplantations. We aimed to detect neurological disorders in liver transplantation patients and determine those that affect mortality.

Coordination polymers (CPs), new functional hybrid materials, have received important attention due to their structural features and many different applications such as gas storage, catalysis, energy storage, small molecule adsorption, luminescence, and chemical sensors. In this study, two newly synthesized metal-organic frameworks (MOFs); [Mn(µ-dmg)-(µ-dmg)(µ-bipy)] (CP1) and [Mn(µ-dmg)(µ-dmg)(µ-dpeten)] (CP2); were used for sensing of gaseous carbon dioxide with a spectrofluorometric method with a dye, 8-hydroxypyrene-1, 3, 6-trisulfonic acid (HPTS) as matrix additive material for the first time. The ion-pair form of the HPTS was used in the polymethyl methacrylate matrix as a thin film form.
