FeO@LaF:Eu,Ag hybrid magnetic luminescent nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized using a simple co-precipitation method and then functionalized with β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) using (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES). The chemical composition, crystalline nature, particle size, and surface morphology of the FeO@LaF:Eu,Ag@APTES@β-CD NPs were investigated, using powder X-ray diffraction, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The uptake and release profiling of the LaF:Eu,Ag@FeO@β-CD NPs for the hydrophilic drug ciprofloxacin, showed 40 and 85% efficiency, respectively.

Introduction: The rising incidence of carbapenem resistance in Enterobacterales and is a concern. Since carbapenemase production is the primary resistance mechanism, detecting and identifying the genes responsible for it is crucial to effectively monitor its spread.

Objective: This study aims to detect positivity for the modified carbapenem inactivation method (mCIM) and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA)-carbapenem inactivation method (eCIM) for the detection of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales and .

In this study, we introduce a synergistic approach to enhance the surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) signal in two-dimensional (2D) MXene through photo-irradiation and electric field modulation. Our methodology involves the integration of 2D TiCT MXene with piezoelectric polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) polymer, resulting in the creation of a free-standing, flexible composite film. On this composite film, a thin layer of Au was deposited.

Hemolysis is a positive agglutination reaction and is primarily associated with high anti-A or anti-B antibody titers. This high titer may result in no agglutination due to the "prozone" phenomenon. Platelet concentrate of high titer has an adverse effect on the recipient of the non-identical ABO blood group.

Troubleshooting for any fault of apheresis equipment or kit is hardly addressed. Here, we report a unique problem of air trapping in a kit at two different positions leading to failure of the plateletpheresis procedure. Two plateletpheresis procedures were aborted due to "Access pressure low", though the needle position was absolutely perfect.

Background: Claudins are a clan of proteins that are the most important component of tight junctions. The claudin-4 expression has been linked to tumour cell invasion and progression in a variety of primary malignancies. Evaluation of lymphovascular density (LVD) correlates with tumour aggressiveness and may correlate with prognosis.

Article Synopsis
  • Limitations in diagnostic facilities in developing nations make it challenging to identify the specific causes of hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS).
  • An 18-month-old boy in India showed severe pneumonia symptoms, abnormal lab results, and quickly deteriorated, requiring intensive care and multiple treatments.
  • The case highlights the importance of minor cross-matching for diagnosing polyagglutination related to Streptococcus pneumoniae (sp-HUS), but sadly, the boy did not survive despite interventions.

Creating a well-defined nanostructure through de-oxyribo nucleic acid (DNA)-nanotechnology, and specifically the development of metal/inorganic semiconductor junctions on DNA-assembled nanostructures, is an emerging research area. Herein, we investigate the electrical properties of biomolecule DNA-template based one-dimensional nanowires (NWs)-CdS/Au and without-template based nanoparticles (NPs)-CdS/Au devices grown on the Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) glass substrates. More importantly, the NWs-CdS/Au device displays a dramatic augmentation of current flow and also a striking change in threshold voltage (~55 mV) in comparison to NPs (~190 mV) and reported bulk-CdS/Au (~680 mV) devices.
