Purpose: "ROPtool" is a computer program that measures retinal blood vessel tortuosity. Our aim was to determine the feasibility and accuracy of analyzing images with ROPtool, which were obtained using video indirect ophthalmoscopy.
Methods: Forty-five posterior pole still images captured from indirect ophthalmoscopy video clips were selected; 20 were selected for high quality and 25 were randomly selected.
Background: Recent evidence indicates that adolescent and adult rats are differentially sensitive to many of the acute effects of ethanol. Little is known about the neurobehavioral consequences of repeated ethanol exposure during adolescence relative to adulthood. In the present study we examined the impact of repeated ethanol exposure during adolescence and adulthood on subsequent sensitivity to ethanol-induced motor impairments.

Recent evidence suggests that adolescence represents a unique period of sensitivity to the effects of ethanol. Adolescent animals are more sensitive than adults to many of the effects of ethanol, including ethanol-induced learning and memory impairments, while being less sensitive to others, including ethanol-induced sedation. It is well known that ethanol produces dramatic impairments in balance and motor coordination.
