Article Synopsis
  • A 47-year-old male experienced progressive right shoulder weakness for 8 months, linked to a palpable mass and a sudden arm drop after a strain, prompting an MRI that revealed a rotator cuff tear and a tumor-like lipoma causing nerve traction.
  • Electromyography confirmed suprascapular neuropathy, leading to surgical intervention, including arthroscopic excision of the lipoma and repair of the rotator cuff.
  • Post-surgery, the patient showed significant functional improvement and complete removal of the mass on follow-up MRI, indicating the effectiveness of arthroscopic management for suprascapular nerve entrapment caused by a lipoma.

Article Synopsis
  • Concept extraction from prescriptions is crucial for improving healthcare applications, including decision-making and medication management.
  • Traditional rule-based systems struggle with complex prescription text, making it necessary to combine these with advanced deep learning techniques like fine-tuned BERT and Gram CNN for better accuracy.
  • The proposed approach optimizes concept extraction by integrating domain knowledge and intelligent labeling, achieving the highest reported performance in the field for extracting information from prescriptions.

Arthroscopic Latarjet has evolved as a reproducible procedure to address significant anterior glenoid bone loss in recurrent anterior instability of the shoulder joint. While arthroscopic Bankart procedure for anterior shoulder instability has changed from metal anchors to absorbable or soft all-suture anchors to avoid metal-ware and subsequent abrasion in cases of osteolysis or backout, Latarjet procedure, until recently couple of titanium screws were used to fix the coracoid bone to the anterior glenoid. Arthroscopic techniques for Latarjet procedure of coracoid bone transfer have shown results similar to the open technique in many recent studies.

Background: Patellar instability is a painful condition which affects the quality of life and mobility of young individuals. The aim of this study is to observe the results of medial patello-femoral ligament reconstruction with hamstring autograft along with a modified Fulkerson osteotomy, for recurrent instability of patella with high-grade trochlear dysplasia in Indian population.

Materials & Methods: We conducted a prospective observational study of 26 knees (21 patients) who attended our outpatient department from June 2014 to February 2019, with recurrent instability of the patella and high-grade trochlear dysplasia.

Photoplethysmogram (PPG) has been used with great effect for predicting human vitals such as heart rate variability or blood oxygen saturation (SpO), etc. The quality of PPG signal is affected mainly by noise, drift and motion artifacts. Although noise and drift are relatively easy to remove, motion artifacts pose a challenge.
