The aim of the study was to comparatively evaluate chitosan and Cobalt incorporated chitosan (CoCH) scaffold at varying concentrations in terms of their material characteristics, cytotoxicity and cell adhesion potential. In the present study, cobalt incorporated chitosan scaffolds at varying concentrations were prepared and dried. The synthesised scaffolds were characterised using XRD, FTIR, SEM-EDX and BET which revealed amorphous, porous surface of CoCH scaffolds and FTIR analysis showed the complexation confirming the chelation of cobalt with chitosan.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOxidative stress (OS) has been attributed to the progression of various disorders, including cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. Several antioxidant compounds and free radical quenchers have been shown to mitigate oxidative stress. However, large-scale randomized controlled trials of such compounds on chronic disease aversion have yielded paradoxical and disappointing results due to the constrained cognizance of their oxidative mechanisms and therapeutic targets.

The morphology and particle size of os-nHAp were analyzed using a high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM).
View Article and Find Full Text PDFInstead of diminishing with the spectacular advancement of medical expertise in the country , unqualified biomedical practice in India has been strengthened by the growth of the pharmaceutical production in the twenty first century. In public health discourse, the view that the informal health practitioners have to be punished and abolished has been countered by the recommendation that they could be trained and incorporated in primary health care where public health amenities are inadequate. The quality of care provided by the informal health care practitioners has also been subject to clinical assessment based on standardized patient vignettes.

Methods: A total of 56 single-rooted human mandibular premolars were decoronated to obtain standardized root length of 12 mm. Canal patency was established using 10 size K-file, working length was determined.
Background: Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are formed when mixing calcium hydroxide (CH) with chlorhexidine (CHX).
Aim: To analyze the antibacterial efficacy of aqueous (AGL) and ethanolic (EGL) extracts of leaves against root canal bacteria such as , , and , to evaluate the antioxidant potential of the extracts and its ability to counteract the ROS.
Materials And Methods: Three different concentrations (10%, 25%, and 35%) of AGL and EGL were prepared.
Regenerative endodontic procedures have gained momentum as a treatment modality of young immature permanent teeth. Literature reports reveal that platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) stimulates growth factors and induces regeneration. This study was undertaken to assess the regenerative potential of non-vital immature permanent maxillary central incisors using PRF with a follow-up for 2 yrs.

This study evaluated the incorporation of casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP), calcium sodium phosphosilicate bioactive glass (BAG), chitosan (CH), and methacryloyloxydodecylpyridinium bromide (MDPB) on the compressive and flexural strength, fluoride (F ) release, and bacterial adhesion of conventional glass-ionomer cement (C-GIC). Modifications were implemented by adding CPP-ACP, BAG, and CH to the glass powder, while MDPB-GIC was prepared by incorporating MDPB to the liquid of C-GIC. Custom-made molds were used for specimen preparation.

Although the AYUSH sector had previously joined the management of dengue and chikungunya outbreaks in some Indian states, its participation has remained contentious and there is reluctance in mainstream public health discourses to seriously examine their interventions. This is a commentary on the efforts made by the Ministry of AYUSH, state AYUSH directorates, AYUSH research institutions, and public hospitals, based on official documents as well as official statements reported in the media, with the aim of bringing out concerns in the process of adapting traditional textual knowledge and practices to public health requirements of the current age.

However, its role in periodontal intrabony defects still remains unexplored. Thus, we aim to assess the feasibility of PTG in obtaining reconstruction in intrabony defects and compare the outcome with that of open flap debridement (OFD).

Depression, anxiety, and stress are very common negative emotions seen in the patients with alcohol dependence which leads to relapse of the condition. The emotional regulation could help the individuals to overcome the negative emotions.

Methods: Sixty mandibular premolars were decoronated, and the root length was standardized.
Despite zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs) being increasingly used as carriers in biomedical fields due to their multifaceted properties and therapeutic importance, better understanding of the mechanisms and cellular consequences resulting from their interaction with cells and cellular components has been warranted. In the present study, we investigate the size-dependent interaction of ZnONPs on RBCs, and its impact on cell viability, DNA damage, ROS generation and morphological changes, employing cellular and analytical methods. Size, charge, stability and solubility were confirmed by DLS, zeta potential, ICP-AES and TEM analysis.

Subjects And Methods: Seventy-two dentin slabs of 3 mm thickness were prepared from extracted human permanent third molars and divided into four groups (n = 18) based on the dentin surface treatment as follows: (1) ER adhesive bonding without dentin pretreatment; (2) SDF/KI pretreatment of dentin followed by ER adhesive bonding; (3) SE adhesive bonding without dentin pretreatment; and (4) SDF/KI pretreatment of dentin followed by SE adhesive bonding. Resin composite was built on the dentin slabs to a height of 4 mm incrementally, and dentin-composite beams of approximately 1 mm 2 cross-sectional area were prepared.
Furcation involvement is a common sequela of severe chronic periodontal disease. Its effective management has a profound influence on the outcome of periodontal therapy. For the efficient clinical management of furcation defects, it is necessary to have a reliable diagnostic tool that can accurately measure and quantify the furcation defect.
