Background: Arginase 1 (Arg1) encodes a key enzyme that catalyzes the metabolism of arginine to ornithine and urea. In our recent study, we found that knockdown of Arg1 in the lungs of fetal mice induces apoptosis of epithelial cells and dramatically delays initiation of labor. As the most abundant internal mRNA modification, N -methyladenosine (m A) has been found to play important roles in lung development and cellular differentiation.

The growing demand for sustainable and healthy food alternatives has led to a significant increase in interest in plant-based protein products. Among the various techniques used in creating meat analogs, high-moisture extrusion (HME) stands out as a promising technology for developing plant-based protein products that possess desirable texture and mouthfeel. During the extrusion process, plant proteins undergo a state transition, causing their rheological properties to change, thereby influencing the quality of the final extrudates.

The effects and underlying mechanisms of degradation metabolites on adipocytes in cachectic patients remain poorly understood. To address this knowledge gap, we conducted a comprehensive study combining lipidomic analysis of subcutaneous and visceral adipose tissue with transcriptomics data from the database to investigate the mechanisms of lipid regulation in adipocytes.

Electrolyte engineering is a facile strategy to tailor the interfacial chemistry of LMBs. In particular, the solvation structure and derived solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) are crucial for a satisfactory battery performance.

The structure of the TM-polyphenol covalent conjugates was examined by sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), circular dichroism (CD), fluorescence, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Potential allergenicity was evaluated using in vitro and in vivo methods.

However, traditional inorganic polar materials often suffer from limitations such as wide band gaps and poor carrier transport, which hinders their photocatalytic H evolution efficiency. Here, we rationally synthesized a series of isostructural two-dimensional (2D) aromatic Dion-Jacobson (DJ) perovskites, namely (2-(2-Aminoethyl)pyridinium)PbI (2-APDPI), (3-(2-Aminoethyl)pyridinium)PbI (3-APDPI), and (4-(2-Aminoethyl)pyridinium)PbI (4-APDPI), where 2-APDPI and 4-APDPI crystalize in polar space groups with piezoelectric constants (d) of approximately 40 pm V and 3-APDPI adopts a centrosymmetric structure.

To expand the chemical space of DECLs, new and robust DNA-compatible reactions are sought after. In particular, DNA-compatible cyclization reactions are highly valued, as these reactions tend to be atom economical and thus may provide lead- and drug-like molecules.

Methods: Two one-year cohorts, one with no pandemic lockdown (NoPL) exposure and one with CoPL exposure, were included. Baseline measurements were performed in October 2018 (NoPL) and October 2019 (CoPL), and follow-up data were collected one year later.
Nitrogen forms can affect metal accumulation in plants and tolerance to metals, but a few published studies on the effects on Cu toxicity and Cu accumulation in plants are scarce. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the responses of Liriodendron chinense to different nitrogen forms, by the oxidative stress, antioxidant enzymes system, GSH-AsA cycle, Cu uptake, translocation, and accumulation under Cu stress. We found that Cu-induced growth inhibiting was alleviated by added exclusive NO-N.

In aerospace, the effects of thermal radiation severely affect the imaging quality of infrared (IR) detectors, which blur the scene information. Existing methods can effectively remove the intensity bias caused by the thermal radiation effect, but they have limitations in the ability of enhancing contrast and correcting local dense intensity or global dense intensity. To address the limitations, we propose a contrast enhancement method based on cyclic multi-scale illumination self-similarity and gradient perception regularization solver (CMIS-GPR).

When the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant emerged, individuals in China had already received an inactivated (INA) or a type 5 adenovirus-vectored (Ad5) SARS-CoV-2 vaccine targeting the wild-type virus. We have recently developed a bivalent recombinant type 5 vaccine targeting both the wild-type strain and the Omicron variant (Ad5-nCoV/O).

Methods: Eight randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that recruited 588 AAA patients were extracted using 4 databases (PubMed, Embase, Wanfang Data, and Cochrane Library). Physiological and biochemistry parameters that included in this study are high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), respiratory peak oxygen uptake rate (VOpeak), triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), anaerobic threshold (AT), the diameter of AAA, high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL), and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9).
Background: Circular RNAs (CircRNAs) have been associated with acute lung injury (ALI), but their molecular mechanisms remain unclear.
Methods: This study developed a rat model of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced ALI and evaluated the modeling effect by hematoxylin and eosin staining, Masson's trichrome staining, lung wet-to-dry weight ratio, terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase UTP nick end labeling (TUNEL), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) detection of inflammatory factors (interleukin-1β, tumor necrosis factor alpha, and interleukin-6). Using lung tissues from a rat model of LPS-induced ALI, we then conducted circRNA sequencing, mRNA sequencing, and bioinformatics analysis to obtain differential circRNA and mRNA expression profiles as well as potential ceRNA networks.
Clinicians and researchers have always faced challenges in performing surgery for rotator cuff tears (RCT) due to the intricate nature of the tendon-bone gradient and the limited long-term effectiveness. At the same time, the occurrence of an inflammatory microenvironment further aggravates tissue damage, which has a negative impact on the regeneration process of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and eventually leads to the production of scar tissue. Tetrahedral framework nucleic acids (tFNAs), novel nanomaterials, have shown great potential in biomedicine due to their strong biocompatibility, excellent cellular internalisation ability, and unparalleled programmability.

This communication reports a new approach for the removal of ruthenium byproducts through the design of an enyne terminator for metathesis polymerization that contains a fluorous tag. Upon reaction of a living polymer chain with the enyne, the ruthenium center is captured as a stable sulfur-chelated complex that can be efficiently removed after a single filtration through a fluorous cartridge.

Flexible electrothermal composite phase change materials (PCMs) are promising candidates for portable thermotherapy. However, a great challenge remains to achieve high PCM loading while maintaining reasonable flexibility. Herein, the polypyrrole-decorated melamine foam (PPy@MF) was fabricated and thereafter applied to confine binary PCM mixtures composed of a high-enthalpy long-chain polyethylene glycol (PEG) and its short-chain homologue (PEG) to make the novel PPy@MF-PEG composite PCM.
