Objective: To analyze part of the mechanism of electroacupuncture on Sishencong (EX-HN1) for stroke-related sleep disorders (SSD) and post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI).

Methods: Using a randomized controlled trial (RCT) design, 72 patients were assigned to the electro-acupuncture (EA) group or the sham acupuncture (SA) group. A healthy control (HC) group was also included.

Article Synopsis
  • The Symposium on Human Dynamics Research celebrated its 10th anniversary at the 2024 AAG Meeting in Honolulu, highlighting significant developments in the field since its inception in 2015.
  • Research focus has evolved from traditional spatial-temporal analyses to complex modeling of human behavior in both physical and digital spaces, tackling issues like urban resilience, public health, and social equity.
  • The symposium underscored the need for interdisciplinary collaboration and advanced data-driven approaches to understand the complex interactions between mobility, technology, and societal well-being in a rapidly changing environment.

Manganese dioxide (MnO) is considered as a promising drug carrier material suitable for the tumor microenvironment while lacking conducive structures for drug loading. Herein, we construct a MnO nanoplatform with a hollow rhombic dodecahedral morphology for drug delivery. In this work, we obtained zeolitic imidazolate framework nanoparticles (ZIF-90 NPs) via a coordination reaction.

Background: Genitourinary small cell carcinoma is rare, and has a poor prognosis. However, effective treatment options for this disease are limited. We present a study to assess the efficacy of chemotherapy alone or combined with immunotherapy for locally advanced or metastatic genitourinary small cell carcinoma (GSCC).

Camptothecin (CPT) and its derivatives are potent candidates for cancer treatment. However, the clinical applications are largely restricted by non-selectivity and severe toxicities. The peptide transporter 1 (PEPT1), which is highly expressed in human intestines, has been found to be overexpressed in several cancer cells.

It was aimed to explore the differential expression of miR-146a-5p in peripheral blood of patients with post-stroke depression (PSD), and to analyze its mechanism using bioinformatics. Stroke patients were selected as the research objects, and were divided into PSD ones and non-post-stroke depression (N-PSD) ones with the National Institutes of Health stroke scale (NHISS) and Hamilton Depression Scale-17 terms (HAMD-17) scores. Peripheral blood of patients was collected for serum miR-146a-5p detection.

Background: Cyclic dipeptides are an important class of natural products owing to their structural diversity and biological activities. In fungi, the cyclo-ring system is formed through the condensation of two α-amino acids via non-ribosomal peptide synthetase (NRPS). However, there are few investigations on the functional identification of this enzyme.

The 5-year survival rate of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) can reach 60%. However, nearly half of patients undergo relapse/refractory issues with a survival period of less than 2 years. New therapeutic approaches are therefore needed to improve chemotherapy efficacy and patient survival.

Salidroside is one of the major phenolic glycosides in Rhodiola, which has been reported to possess various biological activities. In the present study the in vivo deglycosylation metabolism of salidroside was investigated and its aglycone p-tyrosol but not the original salidroside was identified as the main form in rat tissues following the administration of salidroside. After the i.

To analyze the genetic characterization of epidemic rubella virus strains isolated in Liaoning from 2007-2012, a total of 145 rubella virus strains were isolated using Vero/Slam cell line from the patients' throat swabs during rubella outbreaks and sporadics cases in Liaoning Province from 2007 to 2012. Fragments of 945 nucleotides containing 1E gene from 145 rubella virus isolates were amplified by RT-PCR, the PCR products were sequenced and analyzed. Based on the 739 nucleotides of 1E gene, the phylogenetic trees were constructed with 32 WHO rubella reference strains of 13 genotypes downloaded from GenBank and 145 rubella virus strains.

Intratumor heterogeneity can confound the results of mutation analyses in oncodriver genes using traditional methods thereby challenging the application of targeted cancer therapy strategies for patients Ultradeep sequencing can detect low frequency and expanded clonal mutations in primary tumors to better inform treatment decisions. KRAS coding exons in 61 treatment-naive colorectal cancer (CRC) tumors and KRAS, EGFR, ALK, and MET in lung tumors from three Chinese non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients were sequenced using ultradeep sequencing methods. Forty-one percent of CRC patients (25/61) harbored mutations in the KRAS active domain, eight of which (13%) were not detected by Sanger sequencing.

An efficient electron transporting material, P-OXD (1,3-bis[(4-(4-diethylphosphoryl-butyl-phenyl))-1,3,4-oxidiazol-2-yl]phenylene), has been synthesized and thoroughly characterized. Due to its alcohol-soluble nature, P-OXD can be spin-coated atop the light emitting layer to form high quality film without dissolving the underlying layer. As a consequence, the double-layer blue electrophosphorescent device has been successfully fabricated, giving a peak luminous efficiency of 10.

Objective: To study the expression of Cx32 and Cx43 in medically intractable temporal lobe epilepsy in human and investigate the pathogenic relationship between gap junctions and seizures.

Methods: The expression of Cx32 and Cx43 was detected by Western blot and immunohistochemistry in 14 consecutive samples of hippocampus from epileptic patients undergoing an amygdalohippocampectomy for the treatment of intractable seizures. During postmortem dissection, 8 samples of hippocampus in nonepileptic patients dying of other diseases were taken as control group.

The salicylidene Schiff base N-3,5-dichloro-salicylidene-(S)-alpha-phenylethylamine (SPEA) has been synthesized and characterized. Stimulated by one optical input (UV light) and two chemical inputs (OH(-) and Zn(2+)), SPEA undergoes reactions of photochemistry, deprotonation, and complexation. Tailing these reactions by means of the UV-vis absorption spectra and fluorescence spectra, two obvious optical outputs, an absorption band at 323 nm and a fluorescent emission peak at 460 nm, have been obtained.

The salicylidene Schiff base derivative, namely, N-salicylidene-(S)-alpha-naphthylethylamine (SNEA) has been synthesized to study the characterization of multistate/multifunctional switches. Upon the stimulations of optical inputs (UV light and visible light) and chemical inputs (pH and Zn(2+)), SNEA undergoes reversible photochromism, deprotonation and complexation reactions. In this case, four chemical species are involved.
