Exploring Objective Simulation Competency Assessment Experience E-Learning Module Analytics: A Mixed-Methods Study to Improve Nursing Faculty Feedback.

Abnormal uterine bleeding is a common clinical concern for adolescent women. This research study aims to improve the clinical reasoning skills of advanced practice nursing students instructed in blended Objective Simulation Competency Assessment clinical experiences by enhancing feedback loops given to students during simulated experiences. A sequential explanatory mixed-methods study design was conducted with two cohorts of first-year women's health nurse practitioner graduate nursing students enrolled in the Women's Health Program at a large Midwestern university.

Objective: The purpose of this research was to assess the use of clinical simulation scenarios using augmented reality technology to evaluate learning outcomes for nurse practitioner students studying pediatric asthma management.

Years of Experience as a Predictor of Nurse Faculty Technology Use.

Background: Many nurse educators are reluctant toward technology changes and view it as a burden. An emerging crisis factor among nursing colleges is the average age of faculty members being older than 51 years. The purpose of this study is to describe nurse faculty preferences about the use of technologies and to examine relationships between their preferences and years of experience.

Student-Perceived Influences on Performance During Simulation.

Background: Understanding the effect of the context of simulation to learning and performance is critical to ensure not only optimal learning but to provide a valid and reliable means to evaluate performance. The purpose of this study is to identify influences on performance from the student perspective and understand the contextual barriers inherent in simulation before using simulation for high-stakes testing.

Emerging distance learning trends must be researched to ensure high-quality education for student registered nurse anesthetists. However, research to examine distance learning has been hampered by a lack of theoretical models.

Establishing a learning repository to facilitate collaboration and communication of academic work among nursing faculty.

There is an increasing need for collaboration and communication among nurse educators to advance the quality of nursing education and show excellence in curriculum development, content delivery, leadership, and scholarship roles. In this article, the establishment of a learning repository, its unique functionalities, procurement of faculty, and future advancements are described in detail. Our approach is based on evidence-based research, instructional design, and emerging technologies to address the gaps and problems faced by nurse educators.

Developing scholarly thinking using mind maps in graduate nursing education.

Two broad issues that beginning graduate nursing students face are identifying a research focus and learning how to organize complex information. Developing a mind map is 1 strategy to help students clarify their thinking and lay the foundation for in-depth expertise related to their research focus, review of the literature, and conceptual framework. The authors discuss their use of mind mapping combined with feedback using a fishbowl technique.
