Evaluation of Metabolic Parameters on Use of Newer Antiepileptics Versus Conventional Antiepileptics in Patients of Generalised Tonic-Clonic Seizure: An Observational Study.

Background and objective Epilepsy is the commonest serious neurological condition and around 50 million people live with epilepsy (PWE). Primary and secondary generalised tonic-clonic seizures (GTCS) together constitute up to 50% of adult and adolescent epilepsy. GTCS respond well to broad-spectrum AEDs like valproate, phenytoin, levetiracetam, lamotrigine, and topiramate.

Cutaneous adverse drug reactions with fixed-dose combinations: Special reference to self-medication and preventability.

Objectives: To identify the association of cutaneous adverse drug reactions (CADRs) with use of fixed-dose combinations (FDCs) and to compare the occurrence of preventable CADRs between self-medication and prescribed medication of FDCs.

Patients And Methods: All cases of suspected CADRs with the use of FDCs were collected, and causality assessment was carried out using the WHO UMC scale. The burden of CADRs on self-medication and prescribed medication was found out.

Objectives: Continuous availability of affordable medicines in appropriate formulations is essential to reduce morbidity and mortality in children. Odisha an eastern Indian state records very high mortality of children. The study aims at documenting the availability and prices paid for purchasing essential child-specific medicines.
