Objective: The purpose of this article is to retrospectively analyze chest CT findings for 15 patients with Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus and to identify features associated with survival.

Materials And Methods: Patients were assigned to group 1 if they died (n=9) and to group 2 if they made a full recovery (n=6). Two reviewers scored chest radiographs and CT examinations for segmental involvement, ground-glass opacities, consolidation, and interstitial thickening.

Objective: To assess the health-related quality of life (HRQL) of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in 4 Gulf Council Cooperation (GCC) countries.

Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional survey between December 2011 and March 2012 in the following countries: Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Riyadh, Dammam, and Jeddah), Kuwait, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates. The HRQL was measured using the COPD Assessment Test (CAT) and the Chronic Respiratory Disease Questionnaire-Self-Administered Standardized questionnaire (CRQ-SAS).

Morbid obesity adversely affects respiratory physiology, leading to reduced lung volumes, decreased lung compliance, ventilation perfusion mismatch, sleep-disordered breathing and the impairment of ventilatory control, and neurohormonal and neuromodulators of breathing. Therefore, morbidly obese subjects are at increased risk of various pulmonary complications that can present either acutely or chronically. Respiratory failure is one of the most common pulmonary complications related to morbid obesity.

Background: In the clinical practice of sleep medicine, the coexistence of common sleep disorders is not uncommon. Patients with sleep disordered breathing (SDB) may present with insomnia, and studies have shown that SDB is common among insomnia patients. Mechanical ventilation is commonly required in critically ill pregnant patients, requiring ICU admission, with higher morbidity and mortality related to airway management.
