There are cases of idiopathic interstitial pneumonias (IIPs) that do not meet the diagnostic criteria for connective tissue disease but have clinical features suggestive of autoimmune process. Interstitial pneumonia with autoimmune features (IPAF) was recently proposed as a research concept for these patients. Although several prospective studies on IPAF have been conducted, its clinical significance in cryptogenic organizing pneumonia (COP) remains unclear.

Coronary aneurysm secondary to coronary fistula is a rare condition, with no existing report on its pathological examination. We report the case of a patient diagnosed with a right coronary artery fistula with coronary aneurysm during the fetal period. During follow-up after delivery, the aneurysm became larger, even though the shunt size decreased.

Distal renal tubular acidosis and lethargy associated with zonisamide treatment in a dog with idiopathic epilepsy.

A 3-year-old neutered male golden retriever administered zonisamide for the treatment of seizures showed lethargy and had normal anion gap metabolic acidosis with hypokalaemia, hyperchloremia, and alkaline urine. The serum zonisamide concentration was close to the upper limit, which raised a suspicion of adverse effects of zonisamide. This is the first report showing that the fractional excretion of bicarbonate after compensation for the plasma bicarbonate concentration by a sodium bicarbonate infusion was approximately 5%, indicating distal renal tubular acidosis (RTA).

Oral food challenge (OFC) is the most reliable method for diagnosing food allergies. However, the scarcity of long-term data on eating habits of people after a negative OFC poses a challenge for provisional medical care. This study was performed to investigate the percentage of people who could reintroduce eggs into their diet several years after an OFC.

New acetogenin katsuurallene from Laurencia saitoi collected from Katsuura, Japan.

We examined the chemical constitution of the red alga Laurencia saitoi Perestenko, collected from Katsuura, Boso Peninsula, Chiba Prefecture, Japan. This specimen produced a new polyhalogenated acetogenin, named katsuurallene (1), which structure was determined by the spectral methods, along with known diterpene, deoxyparguerol (2) and triterpene, thyrsiferol (3). In this paper we describe the structural elucidation of katsuurallene together with some biological activities.

A Case of Persistent Fifth Aortic Arch With an Interrupted Fourth Aortic Arch.

We report the case of a 4-year-old boy with coarctation of the aorta resulting from persistent fifth aortic arch, a rare abnormality, along with an interrupted fourth aortic arch. When he visited a general practitioner with an upper respiratory infection, a heart murmur was noted. Computed tomography findings led to the diagnosis of persistent fifth aortic arch with an interrupted fourth aortic arch.

Introduction: Osimertinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that targets the epidermal growth factor receptor. Elevated serum creatine kinase level is an uncommon adverse event associated with osimertinib treatment for lung cancer.

Case Report: We report a previously healthy 56-year-old woman who developed elevated serum creatine kinase levels during osimertinib monotherapy for epidermal growth factor receptor mutation-positive lung adenocarcinoma.

Local Hemodynamic Changes Immediately after Correction of an Aberrant Right Subclavian Artery in a Dog: A Contrast Computed Tomographic Study.

A 1-year-old female Akita dog was referred for intermittent regurgitation. Computed tomographic angiography (CTA) showed an aberrant right subclavian artery (ARSA), resulting in constriction of the esophagus. After surgical ligation of the ARSA, CTA showed that the ARSA was not enhanced by contrast medium, and that sufficient collateral circulation of the right forelimb was supplied through the vertebral artery.

Survival of chemo-naïve patients with EGFR mutation-positive advanced non-small cell lung cancer after treatment with afatinib and bevacizumab: updates from the Okayama Lung Cancer Study Group Trial 1404.
