Structural changes in Ru- and Rh-loaded magnesium oxide (MgO) subjected to thermal treatment were investigated by using X-ray absorption spectroscopy. The thermal treatment of the MgO-loaded Ru and Rh nanoparticles led to the formation of Ru-MgO and Rh-MgO solid solutions, respectively. The valences of Ru and Rh in the solutions were 4+ and 3+, respectively, as determined by the Ru and Rh K-edge X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES).

When conducting environmental tritium monitoring at nuclear and fusion facilities, it is important to understand how tritium concentrations vary within the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum. Past measurements of organically bound tritium (OBT) concentrations have been conducted from the standpoint of ascertaining the persistence of tritium in terrestrial vegetation, and it has been reported that OBT concentrations fluctuate depending on the influence of atmospheric sources and meteorological conditions. The present study provides information on the variability of tritium concentrations in vegetation growing close to atmospheric sources of tritiated water (HTO) in Japan.

Background: Lactose intolerance (LI) is commonly seen in East Asian countries. Several studies showed that lactose or milk loading has been used as a treatment for lactose malabsorption (LM) in Western countries, but there have been no reports regarding this type of treatment in Japan. Background: Allele-specific methylation of the imprinting control region (ICR) is the molecular basis for the genomic imprinting phenomenon that is unique to placental mammals. We previously showed that the ICR at the mouse H19 gene locus (H19 ICR) was unexpectedly established after fertilization and not during spermatogenesis in transgenic mice (TgM), and that the same activity was essential for the maintenance of paternal methylation of the H19 ICR at the endogenous locus in pre-implantation embryos. We aimed to accurately reclassify AIM on hematoxylin and eosin (HE)-stained sections without auxiliary immunohistochemistry (IHC).
