Conservative management versus open reduction and internal fixation for mid-shaft clavicle fractures in adults--the Clavicle Trial: study protocol for a multicentre randomized controlled trial.

Background: Clavicle fractures account for around 4% of all fractures and up to 44% of fractures of the shoulder girdle. Fractures of the middle third (or mid-shaft) account for approximately 80% of all clavicle fractures. Management of this group of fractures is often challenging and the outcome can be unsatisfactory.

Glenoid rim fracture in contact athletes with absorbable suture anchor reconstruction.

Absorbable suture anchors are widely used in arthroscopic shoulder reconstruction procedures and provide a good solution for stabilization in athletes. In our practice we identified a group of 3 patients who had participated in contact sports and in whom traumatic instability developed. Subluxation of the shoulder followed repair by use of absorbable suture anchors.

Paediatric pelvic fractures: 10 years experience in a trauma centre.

Fractures of the skeletally immature pelvis are relatively rare. We performed a retrospective analysis of 10 years experience of paediatric pelvic fractures in patients admitted a Level 1 Trauma Centre in London. All patients evacuated to the Royal London Hospital by the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) were entered on a comprehensive trauma database.

An optimised method for quantifying glenoid orientation.

A robust quantification method is essential for inter-subject glenoid comparison and planning of total shoulder arthroplasty. This study compared various scapular and glenoid axes with each other in order to optimally define the most appropriate method of quantifying glenoid version and inclination.Six glenoid and eight scapular axes were defined and quantified from identifiable landmarks of twenty-one scapular image scans.

Bilateral patellar component dissociation in a patient with total knee arthroplasties.

We present a case of bilateral patellar component dissociation 6 years after bilateral total knee arthroplasty. The patient had undergone arthroscopic lateral releases bilaterally for patellar maltracking. After repetitive trauma, the patient experienced patellar component dissociation, which was treated arthroscopically by removing the patellar components and leaving the patellae unresurfaced.
