Metasurfaces supporting narrowband resonances are of significant interest in photonics for molecular sensing, quantum light source engineering, and nonlinear photonics. However, many device architectures rely on large refractive index dielectric materials and lengthy fabrication processes. In this work, we demonstrate quasi-bound states in the continuum (quasi-BICs) using a polymer metasurface exhibiting experimental quality factors of 305 at visible wavelengths.

We aimed to study the pretransfusion hemoglobin and erythrocyte transfusion burden and investigate the effects of these variables on each other in real-life in thalassemia and myelodysplastic syndrome. Adult patients with thalassemia and myelodysplastic syndrome who received at least one erythrocyte concentrate unit outpatient at Sanliurfa Mehmet Akif Inan Training and Research Hospital during 1 year were included in the study.

Objective: Behavioral or conduct problems (BCPs) are common co-occurring conditions in children with special health care needs (CSHCNs), affecting their developmental and functional milestones. The aim of the study was to disentangle the complex interplay between family resilience, ACEs, and BCPs by examining how ACEs moderate the relationship between family resilience and BCPs.

Purpose: Our study aimed to discern disparities in metabolic, hormonal profiles, and comorbidities among patients with pituitary Cushing (PC), adrenal Cushing (AC), and Mild autonomous cortisol secretion (MACS).

Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis involving 76 patients diagnosed with PC ( = 26), AC ( = 21), and MACS ( = 29) at our clinic. We compared the groups' demographic data, clinical characteristics, biochemical profiles, hormonal analyses, and surgical interventions.

This study evaluates acetylcholinesterase (AChE) enzyme activity levels, oxidative stress parameters, histopathological findings, and serum melatonin levels in rat brain tissue. 32 male Wistar Albino rats were randomly divided into four groups: Control, Light, Dark, Dim light ( = 8 each group). After a 30 day experiment, brain tissues were collected to measure AChE, glutathione S-transferase (GST), glutathione (GSH), and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels and conduct histopathological analyses.

Introduction: Pneumocephalus and pneumorrhachis are rare postoperative complications, commonly occurring within a few days to months after spinal surgery. They are very rarely reported after thoracic surgeries. This case highlights a unique presentation in the emergency department involving headache and vomiting caused by late complications following thoracic surgery with a titanium rib implant.

Investigation of the effects of silymarin and vitamin C on kidney damage and aquaporin-2 downregulation in lithium-induced nephrogenic diabetes insipidus in rats.

Although lithium (LIT) therapy is key in managing bipolar disorder long-term, prolonged use significantly contributes to acquired Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus (NDI). This study examined whether combining Silymarin (SIL) with Vitamin C (Vit C) enhances protection against lithium-induced nephrotoxicity in rats, comparing their individual antioxidant effects as well. Rats subjected to Li exposure were provided with a standard commercial diet supplemented with 80 mmol LiCl per kilogram for 28 days.

Evaluation of ixabepilone efficacy and tolerability in metastatic breast cancer.

Although microtubule inhibitors are generally used in advanced stages, they provide the opportunity to prolong survival as an alternative when medical oncologists have difficulty finding options in their patients, who typically have a poor prognosis and most of whom are unresponsive to treatment. For this reason, we wanted to investigate the effect of ixabepilone treatment on survival in earlier metastatic lines. Our study also examined the frequency of side effects and survival differences in patients whose dose was reduced or whose treatment was discontinued.

Background: Polysomnography (PSG) is resource-intensive but remains the gold standard for diagnosing Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). We aimed to develop a screening tool to better allocate resources by identifying individuals at higher risk for OSA, overcoming limitations of current tools that may under-diagnose based on self-reported symptoms.

Methods: A total of 884 patients (490 diagnosed with OSA) were included, which was divided into the training, validation, and test sets.

Objective: Chronic non-bacterial osteomyelitis (CNO) is a rare autoinflammatory bone disease associated with other chronic inflammatory diseases such as familial Mediterranean fever (FMF), juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), spondylarthropathies, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and pyoderma gangrenosum. We aimed to describe the clinical and follow-up characteristics of patients with CNO and to compare findings between patients with and without comorbidities.

Methods: The clinical records of patients with CNO who were followed up in our pediatric rheumatology clinic between 2018 and 2023 were reviewed.

A Little-Known Vaginitis-Like Picture: Cytolytic Vaginosis.

Background: Cytolytic vaginosis (CV) is a condition characterized by an increase in lactobacilli in the vaginal flora, causing complaints of discharge, itching, dyspareunia, and dysuria. Since there are no antimicrobials in the treatment protocols of CV, the diagnostic and therapeutic criteria of which were first defined by Cibley, differential diagnosis of CV from other vaginitis agents will prevent unnecessary use of antimicrobials and recurrent com-plaints. In our study, we aimed to determine the frequency of CV in patients presenting with vaginitis complaints and the diagnostic accuracy of the diagnostic criteria.

Background: La-related protein 7 (LARP7) is a key regulator of RNA metabolism and is thought to play a role in various cellular processes. LARP7 gene autosomal recessive mutations are the cause of Alazami syndrome, which presents with skeletal abnormalities, intellectual disabilities, and facial dysmorphisms. This study aimed to determine the role of LARP7 in modulating gene expression dynamics during osteogenesis.

Objectives: The chemotherapeutic drug doxorubicin (DOX) affects not only cancer cells but also healthy cells in an undesirable manner. The purpose of this study was to investigate the protective roles of rosmarinic acid (RA) and Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) alone and in combination against DOX-induced oxidative stress, cytotoxicity, and genotoxicity in healthy cells. In addition, this study evaluated the expression of the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) protein in the Chinese hamster ovary cell line (CHO-K1).

Comparison of the efficacy of repeated greater occipital nerve block and pulsed radiofrequency therapy in chronic migraine patients: a randomized controlled study.

The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of greater occipital nerve (GON) block and pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) treatment in chronic migraine patients. Seventy patients admitted to the Neurology and Algology outpatient clinic between September 2023 and December 2023 and diagnosed with chronic migraine according to The International Classification of Headache Disorders 3rd Edition (ICHD-3) criteria were included in the study. Patients were randomized into 2 groups to receive ultrasound-guided repeated GON block and PRF.
