As part of a sea turtle health monitoring program on the central east coast of Queensland, Australia, stranded and sick green sea turtles () were subjected to necropsy and histopathology. A subset of these turtles had myocarditis of varying severity, which could not be attributed to parasitism by spirorchid flukes or bacterial infections. Canine distemper virus (CDV) causes a highly contagious systemic infection in an array of animal species. In this study we report an outbreak of distemper in ferrets in two research facilities in Australia, caused by a novel lineage of CDV. While the CDV strain caused mainly mild symptoms in ferrets, histopathology results presented a typical profile of distemper pathology, with multi-system virus replication.

To assess the safety and efficacy of oral 50 mg Zoledronic acid (ZA) bisphosphate once-a-week for 6-weeks to placebo among patients with chronic low back pain (cLBP) and Modic changes (MC) on MRI. A parallel, double-blinded randomized controlled study was performed at a single center, consisted of 25 subjects with cLBP and MC that received ZA (n = 13) or placebo (n = 12).
