Objective: To identify the COVID-19 pandemic impact on well-being/mental health, coping strategies, and risk factors in adolescents worldwide.
Method: This study was based on an anonymous online multi-national/multi-language survey in the general population (representative/weighted non-representative samples, 14-17 years of age), measuring change in well-being (World Health Organization-Five Well-Being Index [WHO-5]/range = 0-100) and psychopathology (validated composite P-score/range = 0-100), WHO-5 <50 and <29, pre- vs during COVID-19 pandemic (April 26, 2020-June 26, 2022). Coping strategies and 9 a priori- defined individual/cumulative risk factors were measured.
Objectives: Viral infections are the leading cause of posttransplant morbidity and mortality. We aimed to determine the effect on graft function, the risk factors, the frequency, and types of viral infections and to evaluate the effect of viral infections on kidney and patient outcomes in pediatric kidney transplant patients.
Materials And Methods: Records of children undergoing kidney transplant in our center during the period February 1, 2010, to December 31, 2023, were retrospectively evaluated.
Corrosive esophageal burn (CEB) is a disease with high mortality and morbidity rates. The aim of this study was to determine the efficacy of castor oil, in preventing stricture development at the experimental CEB model. In addition to studying standard histopathological damage data, neopterin, IL-33, and ST-2 proteins were also studied for the first time.

The aim of this study was to assess dyspnea severity, respiratory muscle strength, cough capacity, and sleep quality in people with substance use disorder (SUD). Forty eight individuals with SUD and 28 active cigarette smokers participated in the study.

Despite its high prevalence, diagnosis and follow-up of the disease is difficult. Irisin, a slimming myokine produced in response to physical activity (PA), exhibits anti-inflammatory and anti-obesity effects.

This study was designed to predict the post-weaning weights of Akkaraman lambs reared on different farms using multiple linear regression and machine learning algorithms. The effect of factors the age of the dam, gender, type of lambing, enterprise, type of flock, birth weight, and weaning weight was analyzed. The data was collected from a total of 25,316 Akkaraman lambs raised at multiple farms in the Çiftlik District of Niğde province.

Regulatory T cells (Tregs) are crucial for modulating immune responses post-transplantation; however, the transfer of polyspecific Tregs alone is insufficient to induce allotolerance in rodent models.
Methods: To enhance the efficacy of adoptive Treg therapy, we investigated different immune interventions in the recipients.
Background/aim: Studies highlighted the bidirectional crosstalk between the HER family members in breast cancer as resistance mechanism to anti-HER agents. Cross-signaling between HER2/EGFR and ER/IGF1R could play role in the development of resistance to therapeutics hence stimulating cell growth. To overcome this resistance, combined therapies targeting both pathways simultaneously have been proposed as an effective strategy.

MPS-3 is linked to a deficiency in enzymes involved in heparan sulfate degradation. This biomolecule is neurotoxic and its accumulation underlies the severe central nervous system degeneration observed in this disease.

Neurotrophins are the most promising candidates for supporting the auditory nerve by increasing neuronal survival. This study aimed to help elucidate the pathophysiology of ARHL by determining whether any relationship exists between brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and neurotrophin-3 (NT-3) levels in serum samples from patients diagnosed with ARHL.

However, little is known about the relationship between subtypes of trauma and specific symptoms in patients, their siblings, and controls. It is also not clear which variables mediate the relationship between trauma and psychotic symptoms.

Since there are no randomized controlled studies on Crush Syndrome, knowledge on this subject is limited to expert experience. The primary objective is to analyze the epidemiological and demographic characteristics, clinical outcomes, and mortality factors of earthquake victims after the Pazarcik and Elbistan earthquakes on February 6, 2023.

Methods: We studied a total of 39 women including 13 MTLE, 13 SCZ, and 13 healthy individuals (HC). A neuropsychological test battery (NPT) was administered and scored by an experienced neuropsychologist, and NeuroQuant (CorTechs Labs Inc.

Background: Primary hyperoxaluria type 1 (PH1) is characterized by increased endogenous oxalate production and deposition as calcium oxalate crystals. The main manifestations are nephrocalcinosis/nephrolithiasis, causing impaired kidney function. We aimed to evaluate the clinical characteristics and overall outcomes of paediatric PH1 patients in Turkey.

Topological insulators (TIs) have shown promise as a spin-generating layer to switch the magnetization state of ferromagnets via spin-orbit torque (SOT) due to charge-to-spin conversion efficiency of the TI surface states that arises from spin-momentum locking. However, when TIs are interfaced with conventional bulk ferromagnetic metals, the combination of charge transfer and hybridization can potentially destroy the spin texture and hamper the possibility of accessing the TI surface states. Here, we fabricate an all van der Waals (vdW) heterostructure consisting of molecular beam epitaxy grown bulk-insulating BiSe and exfoliated 2D metallic ferromagnet FeGeTe (FGT) with perpendicular anisotropy.

Hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy) has been linked to many systemic disorders, including stroke, proteinuria, epilepsy, psychosis, diabetes, lung disease, and liver disease. The clinical effects of high serum Hcy level, also known as hyperhomocysteinemia, have been explained by different mechanisms.

Its pathogenesis is characterized by the formation of β-amyloid (Aβ) plaques. The use of antigen-specific regulatory T cells (Tregs) through adoptive transfer has shown promise for the treatment of many inflammatory diseases, although the effectiveness of polyspecific Tregs is limited.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFinite-element modelling has been used to simulate local strains and stresses within free-standing polycrystalline slabs of W, Cu and W-Cu, heated with free or constrained boundaries. The elastic strain values in crystallites that satisfied the diffraction condition were used to simulate the lattice strain data that would be obtained from diffraction analysis, from which the average stresses within diffracting domains were computed. Comparison of direct-space stresses in the model with the average stresses determined from diffraction analysis shows that the representative volume elements (RVEs) required to obtain equivalent stress/strain values depend on the deformation mode suffered by the material.

The human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) overexpressing subtype is related to poor prognosis with an aggressive phenotype and is reported as one of the most commonly seen subtypes. Trastuzumab is prevalently used as a treatment method for HER2+ breast cancer however, resistance to the drug frequently occurs following the treatment.
