Background: The objective of this study was to evaluate the levels of Vascular Peroxidase 1 (VPO1), humanin, and MOTS-c in relation to miR-200c expression in untreated preeclamptic pregnancies, and to compare these findings with endoglin levels.

Methods And Results: In this study, blood samples were collected from preeclamptic patients presenting to the clinic prior to the initiation of treatment. The levels of endoglin, VPO1, humanin, and MOTS-c were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), while miR-200c expression was quantified using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).

Background: Volatile substance (thinner) addiction can cause serious cardiac events, such as malignant ventricular arrhythmias, acute coronary syndromes, sudden death syndrome, and dilated cardiomyopathy, as reported in many case studies. We aimed to find echocardiographic and electrocardiographic parameters that could foresee these adverse outcomes in clinical settings.

Methods: We enrolled 32 healthy young adult patients with at least 1 year of thinner addiction and no cardiac symptoms.

The motivation of this study is to develop and establish an occupational accident dynamical model (OA model) based on Susceptible-Infected-Recovered framework. In order to investigate the dynamics of the OA model, monthly occupational accident data from Turkey between 2013 and 2020 has been selected as dataset. The OA model is defined by a coupled first-order ordinary nonlinear differential equation with four variables.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to explore the potential link between glycoalkaloid levels in blood and the occurrence of anencephaly in humans, particularly focusing on the compound solanine, which has been implicated in neural tube defects in animal studies.
  • - Researchers compared blood and amniotic fluid samples from pregnant women diagnosed with fetal anencephaly to those from normal pregnancies, looking specifically at the levels of solanine, chaconine, and solamargine.
  • - Results showed that solanine was undetectable in both groups, while alpha-chaconine and alpha-solamargine levels were significantly higher in the normal pregnancy group, suggesting no direct connection between solanine and anencephaly, but indicating a need

Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) burden is defined as the proportion of time the patient remains in AF over a given period of time; thus, it is theoretically highest in permanent AF and lowest in paroxysmal AF. Inflammation is associated with the initiation and maintenance of AF. However, the relationship between systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and AF burden is unknown.

Background: Research on gender inequality is crucial as it unveils the pervasive disparities that persist across various domains, shedding light on societal imbalances and providing a foundation for informed policy-making.

Aim: To investigate gender differences in scientometric indices among faculty members in dental schools across Iran. This included overall data and speciality-specific data.

Article Synopsis
  • - Biological invasions are a big problem for ecosystems and economies, and Türkiye is especially at risk due to its trade connections and location between Europe and Asia.
  • - Researchers analyzed the economic costs of invasive species in Türkiye and found it added up to about $4.1 billion from 1960 to 2022, mostly affecting agriculture and fisheries.
  • - The yearly costs of these invasive species are increasing and could reach $504 million a year soon, highlighting the need for better tracking of these costs and better management strategies to deal with them.

Background Mean platelet volume (MPV), reflecting platelet size and activation, has been associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk and mortality. Yet, its prognostic significance in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) remains uncertain. This study investigates whether elevated MPV levels upon admission in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients predict adverse in-hospital outcomes after primary PCI.

In this study, the pyridine side of a boron 2-(2'-pyridyl) imidazole (BOPIM) core, which has very few derivatives synthesized in the literature and can show fluorescence properties in solid form, was derivatized with 1-methylpyrazole, predicted to have activity against fungi or bacteria according to the literature. Additionally, its imidazole side was brominated to increase the efficiency of singlet oxygen production by increasing the intersystem crossing. The photophysical properties of the new synthesized BOPIM derivative were investigated in general organic solvents with different polarities.

Simulation and observational studies have identified the importance of intersection geometries and vehicle speeds in collisions. However, the causal mechanisms of such collisions in low-speed areas and for different collision types remain unclear. This observational study investigates the complex relationships between geometries, speeds, visibilities, and road traffic collisions in the context of low-speed urban areas.

Introduction The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is a significant predictor of cardiovascular diseases, influencing their progression and prognosis. The exact role of the NLR in acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is unclear. We investigated the possible association between peak NLR values within the first three days after STEMI onset and in-hospital outcomes in patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Objective: The opinions, satisfaction, and expectations of telemedicine can provide essential data for remote health services in individuals with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The study aimed to demonstrate the views (barriers-benefits), satisfaction, and expectations of individuals with MS about telerehabilitation services.

Methods: A prospective cross-sectional was conducted with 82 individuals with MS who received telerehabilitation services for at least one year.

Background White blood cell count (WBC) and mean platelet volume (MPV) have been shown to be hematologic parameters of prognostic significance in acute coronary syndrome. We sought to determine the relationship between the WBC/MPV ratio (WMR), coronary artery disease (CAD) complexity, and long-term clinical outcomes in patients with non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). Hypothesis WMR has a relationship with the complexity of CAD and long-term clinical outcomes in NSTEMI patients.

Article Synopsis
  • Many neurodevelopmental disorders are connected to mutations in genes responsible for ribosome biogenesis, and the exact impact of reduced ribosome production on brain development is not fully understood.
  • Research using human cerebral organoids has unveiled a mechanism where decreased ribosome levels affect the timing of cell fate specification during key early developmental stages.
  • Boosting mTOR activity through genetic or drug interventions shows promise in mitigating developmental issues related to ribosome deficits, suggesting new treatment avenues for certain brain disorders.

Action myoclonus-renal failure (AMRF) syndrome is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by myoclonic epilepsy with occasional renal failure comorbidity. This study examines a consanguineous family with multiple members presenting myoclonic epilepsy. The disease's continued transmission within the family is attributable to a lack of genetic testing and the inability to establish a definitive diagnosis.

Background: Tryptophan is an essential amino acid primarily metabolized by the kynurenine pathway in mammals. Intermediate metabolites emerging in this pathway have been associated with many neurogenerative diseases. This study aimed to compare tryptophan pathway metabolite levels in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and healthy controls and reveal the relationship of tryptophan metabolites with disease subtype and the Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) score.
