Methods: This retrospective study included patients who presented with ulnar-side wrist pain for at least one month and underwent 3T MRI between January 2020 and October 2023. All demographic and clinical data, wrist radiography, and MRI images were obtained from computerized records.

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the splenic stiffness (SS) values in healthy individuals as measured by 3 Tesla magnetic resonance elastography (3T MRE) and to investigate the possible effects of parameters such as age, sex, spleen volume, diameter, and parenchyma thickness on SS.

Patients And Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in August 2023. A total of 54 healthy volunteers were included in this study.

Investigation of the risk factors associated with osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.

Objective: Osteoporosis is a substantial global public health issue. The objective of this study was to evaluate the risk variables associated with osteoporosis among patients seeking care at an outpatient menopausal clinic in a tertiary university hospital.

Material And Methods: In this retrospective, cross-sectional study postmenopausal women who attended the outpatient menopause clinic of Başkent University Hospital between June 01, 2014, and August 31, 2015, were enrolled.

Effect of Different Syrup Types on Turkish Delights (): A TD-NMR Relaxometry Study.

Turkish delights were formulated by using sucrose (control) and different types of corn syrups (having varying glucose/fructose ratios) and allulose syrup. 30% allulose syrup and 30% sucrose-containing Turkish delights were found to exhibit an amorphous structure. Time-domain NMR relaxometry experiments were also conducted on delights by measuring relaxation times, and two distinct proton populations were observed in all formulations.

Effect of COVID-19 Pandemic on Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Activity: Experience of a JACIE-Accredited Center.

Objectives: The adoption of international quality and accreditation standards is important for the success of transplant centers. Guidelines from the Joint Accreditation Committee ISCT-Europe and EBMT (JACIE) have enabled quality management of the operations of clinical units of cellular therapy centers, including cell collection and processing, thus minimizing errors and adverse events. COVID-19 has had significant implications for immunocompromised patients, particularly hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients, as well as their donors and caregivers.

Bacterial Infective Endocarditis Associated with Gerbode Ventricular Septal Defect: A Case Report.

A 61-year-old male presented to emergency department with symptoms of shortness of breath, palpitations, and night sweats. We performed bedside transthoracic echocardiography which showed shunt from the left ventricle to the right atrium in systole with color Doppler examination. Gerbode-type ventricular septal defect and an image of a fibrillar, mobile mass compatible with vegetation was observed just above the tricuspid valve.

Water Dynamics in Starch Based Confectionery Products including Different Types of Sugar.

Starch-based confectionery products were prepared using different types of sugar. In addition to using different sugar, starch was replaced with soy protein isolate (SPI) in some of the products. H NMR spin-lattice relaxation experiments were performed for the collection of products in a broad frequency range from 4 KHz to 30 MHz to get insight into the influence of different sugar types and SPI on the dynamics of water in composite gel systems.

Antioxidant and antimicrobial effects of blackberry, black chokeberry, blueberry, and red currant pomace extracts on beef patties subject to refrigerated storage.

This study evaluates the physicochemical and microbiological properties and sensory parameters of beef patties formulated with black chokeberry (B1), blackberry (B2), red currant (B3) and blueberry (B4) pomace water extracts during refrigerated storage over 9 days. The berry pomace extract treatment significantly decreased the TBARS numbers of the samples (P < 0.05).

Globally 364102 healthcare professionals have been infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) and 1253 of them died until 15 January 2021. Healthcare professionals serving at the forefront of combating the pandemic are in the high risk group. In our country, the data about coronavirus-2019 (COVID-19) among healthcare professionals are limited.

Detection of Authenticity and Quality of the Turkish Delights (Lokum) by Means of Conventional and Fast Field Cycling Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Relaxometry.

Turkish delights (lokum) are traditional confectionery products that contain mainly sucrose as the sugar source and starch as the gelling agent. However, manufacturers sometimes might prefer to use corn syrup instead of sucrose to decrease the cost. This jeopardizes the originality of Turkish delights and leads to production of adulterated samples.

A New Surgical Approach for Aortic Root Aneurysm and Small Aortic Annulus.

Reconstruction of the aortic root in patients with aortic root aneurysm and small aortic annulus is an intricate surgical procedure. Here, we describe our technique performed in 2 patients, that involved aortic root enlargement with grafting in conjunction with annular implantation of the composite graft with a prosthetic mechanical valve, which allowed us to avoid incompatibility. This novel method offers an alternative combined surgical approach for patients with small aortic annulus and aortic root aneurysm that preserves the structure of the valved conduit at the level of the aortic annulus.

Role of 'D-allulose' in a starch based composite gel matrix.

Type of sugar and gelling agents used in confectionery formulations have vital importance since they directly influence physicochemical properties during storage. In this study, the effect of a non-caloric rare sugar, D-allulose (formerly called D-psicose) on the starch based confectionery gels were investigated in the presence and absence of soy protein isolate (SPI) using different experimental techniques for 28 days. For characterization of the formulized gel systems, common techniques were used (SEM, DSC, XRD, moisture content, water activity, hardness and color).

Characterization of Emulsion Stabilization Properties of Gum Tragacanth, Xanthan Gum and Sucrose Monopalmitate: A Comparative Study.

Emulsification effect of gum tragacanth (GT) obtained from Astragalus species is gaining particular interest in recent years. In this study, stabilization effect of GT, xanthan gum (XG), and sucrose monopalmitate (SMP) was investigated by keeping their concentration constant (0.5% w/v) for the oil-in-water emulsions containing 20% (v/v) sun flower oil and 2% (w/v) whey protein isolate.

A New Arterial Cannulation Technique: Arterial Cannulation through Aortic Anastomosis ("Kaplan" Technique).

We performed Bentall procedure on a 65-year-old male patient. Cardiopulmonary bypass was initiated via cannulation of the aneurysmatic segment of the aorta. Distal anastomosis was performed with the open technique under deep hypothermic circulatory arrest at 18°C.

Effect of d-psicose substitution on gelatin based soft candies: A TD-NMR study.

Confectionary gels are considered as composite gel systems composed of high amount of sugar and gelling agent such as gelatin or starch. d-Psicose is classified as a type of rare sugar, which is a C-3 epimer of fructose and has 70% of the sweetness of sucrose with a caloric value of 0.39 kcal/g.

Factors effecting influenza vaccination uptake among health care workers: a multi-center cross-sectional study.

Background: The present study aimed to identify factors affecting vaccination against influenza among health professionals.

Methods: We used a multi-centre cross-sectional design to conduct an online self-administered questionnaire with physicians and nurses at state and foundation university hospitals in the south-east of Turkey, between 1 January 2015 and 1 February 2015. The five participating hospitals provided staff email address lists filtered for physicians and nurses.

Secondary gallbladder hydatidosis and nonfragmanted germinative membrane sourced obstructive jaundice caused by intrabiliary ruptured hepatic hydatid cyst (a case report): two rare complication of the intrabiliary ruptured hepatic hydatid cyst.

Intrabiliary rupture is the most frequently seen complication of the hepatic hydatid cysts. Obstructive jaundice can be seen as a complication of the intrabiliary ruptured hepatic hydatid cysts due to the migrated cystic content into bile ducts. In this study, we present two rare complications seen in a patient who has intrabiliary ruptured hepatic hydatid cyst.
