Detection of phosphorylated proteins in tissue sections using immunohistochemistry (IHC) is a challenging task. The absence of tissue staining may be caused by either a lack of protein expression or a lack of protein activation via its phosphorylation. To address this problem, we employed Integrated Co-detection Workflow (ICW) protocol to analyze lung cancer tissue sections by combining in situ hybridization (ISH) with IHC.

Evaluating the Impact of Medication Risk Mitigation Services in Medically Complex Older Adults.

Adverse drug events (ADEs) represent an expensive societal burden that disproportionally affects older adults. Therefore, value-based organizations that provide care to older adults—such as the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE)—should be highly motivated to identify actual or potential ADEs to mitigate risks and avoid downstream costs. We sought to determine whether PACE participants receiving medication risk mitigation (MRM) services exhibit improvements in total healthcare costs and other outcomes compared to participants not receiving structured MRM.

Use of nasoalveolar molding appliance to direct growth in newborn patient with complete unilateral cleft lip and palate.

The alignment of the alveolar segments creates the foundation upon which excellent results of lip and primary nasal surgery are dependent in the repair of the cleft lip and palate patient. The purpose of this article is to illustrate the step-by-step fabrication process of the nasoalveolar molding appliance used to direct growth of the alveolar ridge, lips, and nose in the presurgical treatment of cleft lip and palate. As a result of this appliance, the primary surgical repair of the nose and lip heals under minimal tension, thereby reducing scar formation and improving the esthetic result.

No evidence for overshadowing or facilitation of spatial pattern learning by visual cues.

Two experiments were conducted to examine the effects of redundant and relevant visual cues on spatial pattern learning. Rats searched for hidden food items on the tops of poles that formed a square (Experiment 1) or a checkerboard (Experiment 2) pattern. The experimental groups were trained with visual cues that specified the locations of the baited poles.
