Motivated by the exceptional optoelectronic properties of 2D Janus layers (JLs), we explore the properties of group Va antimony-based JLs SbXY (X = Se/Te and Y = I/Br). Using Bader charges, the electric dipole moment in the out-of-plane direction of all the JLs is studied and the largest dipole moment is found to be in the SbSeI JL. Our results on the formation energy, phonon spectra, elastic constants, and molecular dynamics (AIMD) simulation provide insights into the energetic, vibrational, mechanical, and thermal stability of JLs.

Residence time of an element in the ocean is a consequence of its chemical behaviour and the various biogeochemical processes governing its distribution, sources, and sinks. Precise estimation of the residence time of beryllium(Be) is necessary for its application as a tracer for understanding present and paleo-environmental processes. We utilise cosmogenic Be and terrestrially derived Be measurements from surface sediments to estimate the residence time of Be in the Indian Ocean.

Solar-driven hydrogen generation using single-semiconductor photocatalysts for hydrogen evolution seems to be challenging due to their poor solar to fuel conversion efficiency because of their fast charge carrier recombination. The ternary heterostructure was prepared by an advanced approach to suppress the recombination of photogenerated charge carriers and has contributed a new platform for designing highly efficient photocatalytic systems. Herein, we fabricated a ternary heterojunction with ultrathin WS-SnS nanosheets and CdS nanorods, and the photocatalytic activity was studied.

The marine atmosphere of the Bay of Bengal (BoB) is prone to get impacted by anthropogenic aerosols from the Indo-Gangetic Plain (IGP) and Southeast Asia (SEA), particularly during the northeast monsoon (NEM). In this study, we quantify and characterize carbonaceous aerosols and their absorption properties collected in two cruise campaigns onboard ORV Sindhu Sadhana during the continental outflow period over the BoB. Aerosol samples were classified based on the air mass back trajectory analyses, wherein samples were impacted by the continental air parcel (CAP), marine air parcel (MAP), and mix of both (CAP + MAP).
