The synthesis, characterization, and catalytic application of a new phosphine-free, well-defined, water-soluble, and air-stable Mn(II)-catalyst [Mn(L)(HO)Cl](Cl) ([]Cl) featuring a 1,10-phenanthroline based tridentate pincer ligand, 2-(1-pyrazol-1-yl)-1,10-phenanthroline (), in dehydrogenative functionalization of alcohols to various -heterocycles such as quinazolin-4(3)-ones, quinolines, and quinoxalines are reported here. A wide array of multisubstituted quinazolin-4(3)-ones were prepared in water under air following two pathways via the dehydrogenative coupling of alcohols with 2-aminobenzamides and 2-aminobenzonitriles, respectively. 2-Aminobenzyl alcohol and ketones bearing active methylene group were used as coupling partners for synthesizing quinoline derivatives, and various quinoxaline derivatives were prepared by coupling vicinal diols and 1,2-diamines.

The enhancement in the extrinsic spin-orbit coupling (SOC) strength of graphene plays an important role in absorbing the spin angular momentum injected from the magnetic surface after perturbation with an external stimulus. As a result, the dynamics of the excited spin system is modified within the magnetic layer.

The nanodots of 170 nm diameters are embedded in the 350 nm (diameter) antidot lattice to form the annular antidot lattice, which is arranged in a square lattice with edge-to-edge separation of 120 nm. A strong anisotropy in the spin-wave modes are observed with the change in orientation angle (ϕ) of the in-plane bias magnetic field by using Time-resolved Magneto-optic Kerr microscope.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFMagnetoelastic (or "straintronic") switching has emerged as an extremely energy-efficient mechanism for switching the magnetization of magnetostrictive nanomagnets in magnetic memory and logic, and non-Boolean circuits. Here, we investigate the ultrafast magnetodynamics associated with straintronic switching in a single quasielliptical magnetostrictive Co nanomagnet deposited on a piezoelectric Pb(MgNb)O-PbTiO substrate using time-resolved magneto-optical Kerr effect (TR-MOKE) measurements. The pulsed laser pump beam in the TR-MOKE plays a dual role: it causes precession of the nanomagnet's magnetization about an applied bias magnetic field and it also generates surface acoustic waves in the piezoelectric substrate that produce periodic strains in the magnetostrictive nanomagnet and modulate the precessional dynamics.

Here, we report on the study of ultrafast magnetization dynamics of a complex three-dimensional magnetic nanostructure. Arrays of magnetic tetrapod structures were fabricated using a combination of two-photon lithography (TPL) and electrodeposition.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFerromagnetic antidot arrays have emerged as a system of tremendous interest due to their interesting spin configuration and dynamics as well as their potential applications in magnetic storage, memory, logic, communications and sensing devices. Here, we report experimental and numerical investigation of ultrafast magnetization dynamics in a new type of antidot lattice in the form of triangular-shaped NiFe antidots arranged in a hexagonal array. Time-resolved magneto-optical Kerr effect and micromagnetic simulations have been exploited to study the magnetization precession and spin-wave modes of the antidot lattice with varying lattice constant and in-plane orientation of the bias-magnetic field.

Recently, we showed such possibility in a Magnetic Vortex Transistor (MVT).
