Single-nucleus and spatial landscape of the sub-ventricular zone in human glioblastoma.

The sub-ventricular zone (SVZ) is the most well-characterized neurogenic area in the mammalian brain. We previously showed that in 65% of patients with glioblastoma (GBM), the SVZ is a reservoir of cancer stem-like cells that contribute to treatment resistance and the emergence of recurrence. Here, we build a single-nucleus RNA-sequencing-based microenvironment landscape of the tumor mass and the SVZ of 15 patients and two histologically normal SVZ samples as controls.

In the present study, biopolymer (chitosan and alginate)-reinforced rhamnolipid nanoparticles were prepared and represented as 'ALG-RHLP-NPs' and 'CHI-RHLP-NPs'. The sizes of the nanoparticles ranged from 150 to 300 nm. The encapsulation efficiencies of ALG-RHLP-NPs and CHI-RHLP-NPs were found to be 81.

Life course social mobility and cognitive function among middle-aged and older adults in India: Exploring heterogeneity by gender.

This study investigates the link between life course social mobility and cognitive function among middle-aged and older adults in India, specifically emphasizing whether upward and downward mobility exerts symmetric associations and potential gender heterogeneity within these associations. Leveraging data from the Longitudinal Aging Study in India 2017-2018, encompassing 64,710 individuals aged 45 years or above, we classified social mobility as 'consistently high,' 'upward mobility,' 'downward mobility,' and 'consistently low,' based on socioeconomic position during childhood and late adulthood. Multivariable regression and gender-interaction analyses were employed to assess associations.

Role of Community-Clinical Partnerships to Promote Cancer Screening: Lessons Learned From the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program.

Community-clinical partnerships are an effective approach to connecting primary care with public health to increase disease prevention and screenings and reduce health inequities. We explore how the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP) award recipients and clinic teams are using community-clinical linkages to deliver services to populations who are without access to health care and identify barriers, facilitators, and lessons that can be used to improve program implementation. We used purposive sampling to select nine state recipients of the NBCCEDP and a clinic partner for each recipient.

Here, we combine single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNAseq) with evolutionary genomics to understand whether certain cell types exhibit faster evolutionary divergence (using their characteristic genes), than other types of cells.

We conducted a trial to establish efficacy and safety of glepaglutide in reducing parenteral support (PS) needs in SBS patients with intestinal failure (IF).

Methods: In an international, placebo-controlled, randomized, parallel-group, double-blind, phase 3 trial, SBS-IF patients requiring PS ≥3 days/week were randomized 1:1:1 to 24 weeks of glepaglutide 10 mg twice-weekly (TW) or once-weekly (OW), or placebo.

Aims: To isolate polyethylene terephthalate (PET) degrading bacteria and elucidate the underlying mechanisms of PET biodegradation through biochemical and genome analysis.

Methods And Results: A Rhodococcus rhodochrous IITR131 was found to degrade PET. Strain IITR131 genome revealed metabolic versatility of the bacterium and had the ability to form biofilm on PET sheet resulting in the cracks, abrasions, and degradation.

As colorectal cancer (CRC) remains a leading cause of cancer-related death, identifying therapeutic targets and approaches is essential to improve patient outcomes. The EGFR ligand epiregulin (EREG) is highly expressed in RAS wildtype and mutant CRC with minimal expression in normal tissues, making it an attractive target for antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) development. Sudden vision loss in pregnancy: Wernicke's encephalopathy in a patient with hyperemesis gravidarum.

Wernicke's encephalopathy, the acute phase of Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome, is characterised as a triad of altered mental status, ocular signs and ataxia. Our patient presented with hyperemesis gravidarum, which is a rare aetiology of Wernicke's encephalopathy. The patient did not have any oculomotor abnormalities, which are more common and classically described in Wernicke's triad.

Introduction: There is growing interest in the relationship between neighborhood disadvantage and increased cannabis retail density, driven by evidence suggesting higher density is associated with increased cannabis use. Yet little is known on how this relationship varies across different measures of cannabis retail density.
