This study fabricated tantalum (Ta)-doped titanium dioxide with a unique nanorod-assembled actinomorphic-flower-like microsphere structured film. The Ta-doped TiO actinomorphic-flower-like microsphere (TAFM) was fabricated via the solution immersion method in a Schott bottle with a home-made improvised clamp. The samples were characterised using FESEM, HRTEM, XRD, Raman, XPS, and Hall effect measurements for their structural and electrical properties.

Anemia affects approximately a quarter of the global population, and improved detection may reduce the associated morbidity and mortality. This study investigated correlations between the results of laboratory hematological determinations of hemoglobin levels and attenuation values measured in the lumina of the abdominal aorta and inferior vena cava (IVC) via unenhanced computed tomography (CT) with the aim of expanding diagnostic options for anemia. The data of 423 patients who underwent abdominal unenhanced CT examinations and laboratory examinations at a tertiary hospital were retrospectively evaluated.

  • Skin Picking Disorder (SPD), also known as dermatillomania, involves habitual skin picking that harms skin tissue, with little prior research on its prevalence and symptoms in Saudi Arabia.
  • A study in Jeddah surveyed 520 participants using the Skin Picking Scale-Revised (SPS-R) and found that 28.8% reported skin picking behavior, while only 1.2% had significant SPD symptoms.
  • Factors like depressive symptoms and being unmarried were linked to higher SPS-R scores, indicating higher vulnerability within these groups, emphasizing the need for increased awareness and clinical attention to SPS for better patient outcomes.

  • Hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) and immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) can occur alongside ulcerative colitis (UC), but their exact causes are not well understood.
  • Two case studies of UC patients are presented, one who had HES and another with ITP, both of which did not respond to standard treatments.
  • The patients showed significant improvement after undergoing colectomy, indicating that their conditions might be reactive to UC rather than idiopathic.
