Background: Revisionary digital amputations are often performed after partial or full traumatic digital amputation to minimize complications while preserving as much length and functionality as possible. Many surgeons attempt revisionary procedures swiftly after initial injury. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of time from injury to surgery on rate of complications and reoperation in revisionary traumatic digital amputations.

Echocardiographic Changes in Infants with Severe Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia After Fetoscopic Endoluminal Tracheal Occlusion (FETO).

Fetoscopic endoluminal tracheal occlusion (FETO) induces lung growth and may improve survival in congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) but the effect on post-natal right (RV) and left (LV) ventricular size and cardiac function is unknown. Quantitative measures of heart size and function including tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion Z-score (TAPSEZ), RV fractional area change (RVFAC), RV global longitudinal and free wall strain (RVGLS, RVFWS), RV/LV ratio, LV eccentricity index (LVEI), and LV M-mode diastolic and systolic Z-scores (LVIDDZ, LVIDSZ) were compared between FETO and control patients on first post-natal echocardiogram, prior to and post CDH repair, and on last available echocardiogram using non-parametric Wilcoxon rank-sum test in a single-center, retrospective cohort study. Linear regression models evaluated change over time, adjusting for clustering and interaction of echocardiogram parameters with time.

Toward Dose Prediction at Point of Design.

Human dose prediction (HDP) is a useful tool for compound optimization in preclinical drug discovery. We describe here our exclusively in silico HDP strategy to triage compound designs for synthesis and experimental profiling. Our goal is a model that provides a preliminary estimate of the dose for a given exposure target based on chemical structure.

DFT investigation of the impact of inner-sphere water molecules on RE nitrate binding to internal pore and external surface of MCM-22.

The impact of inner-sphere water molecules on the binding of rare earth (RE) nitrates to MCM-22 aluminosilicates is analyzed. We used cluster models of MCM-22 to investigate the binding phenomena through localized-basis density functional theory (DFT) calculations. We also conducted plane-wave DFT calculations for a few selected binding configurations using the entire periodic MCM-22 unit cell to check for consistency.

Optimization of MR-ARFI for Human Transcranial Focused Ultrasound.

Magnetic resonance acoustic radiation force imaging (MR-ARFI) is an exceptionally promising technique to non-invasively confirm targeting accuracy and estimate exposure of low-intensity transcranial focused ultrasound stimulation. MR-ARFI uses magnetic field motion encoding gradients to visualize the MR phase changes generated by microscopic displacements at the ultrasound focus. The Interaction of Positive and Negative Relationship Characteristics and Their Association with Relationship and Individual Health Outcomes in Older Couples.

The purpose of this study was to examine how positive and negative relationship characteristics and their interaction were predictive of global relationship happiness, psychological symptoms, and physical health in a large sample of older couples. The NSHAP Wave 2 partner data = 955) were used to estimate both actor (within person) and partner (between person) effects using the Actor Partner Interdependence Model with Moderation. Global relationship happiness was predicted by the interaction of positive and negative characteristics, suggesting that more positive characteristics are only predictive of greater happiness in the presence of some negative characteristics.

Background: Sotalol is a class III antiarrhythmic drug used for the management of patients with atrial fibrillation to maintain sinus rhythm. Sotalol-induced QT interval prolongation can be proarrhythmic and is conventionally initiated in an inpatient setting where routine electrocardiographic (ECG) monitoring is available while sotalol reaches the steady state. Taxonomic summary of (Cestoda: Bothriocephalidae) with a redescription of (Malhotra, 1983) from India.

In this study, we use an integrative taxonomic approach to redescribe (Malhotra, 1983) (Cestoda: Bothriocephalidae), based on newly collected specimens from the type-host (Hamilton, 1822) (Cypriniformes: Danionidae) in Fulbari, Siliguri, West Bengal, India. The detailed morphological assessment, from whole mounts, histology and scanning electron microscopy, offers additional insights into the scolex structure, vitelline follicles, and egg morphology. Molecular data from this and previous studies corroborate the identity and systematics of as a bothriocephalid closely related to the Asian Fish Tapeworm, (Yamaguti, 1934).

Systematic crises may disrupt well-designed nutrition interventions. Continuing services requires understanding the intervention paths that have been disrupted and adapting as crises permit. Alive & Thrive developed an intervention to integrate nutrition services into urban antenatal care services in Dhaka, which started at the onset of COVID-19 and encountered extraordinary disruption of services.
