Defect engineering is a promising method for improving light harvesting in photocatalytic materials like Zinc sulphide (ZnS). By altering the S/Zn molar ratio during hydrothermal processes, Zn and S defects are successfully introduced into the ZnS crystal. The band structures can be modified by adding defects to the crystal structure of ZnS samples.

Article Synopsis
  • * Analysis revealed the nanoparticles had a cubic shape, small size, and significant energy gaps (3.54eV to 3.61eV), along with key vibrational and photoluminescence modes indicating their potential as laser materials.
  • * The study confirmed the uniform distribution of Pr in the nanoparticles, which exhibited high dielectric constants and low loss, making them suitable for optoelectronic applications.

We have analysed the synchronisation scenario and the rich spatiotemporal patterns in the network of Hindmarsh-Rose neurons under the influence of self, mixed and cross coupling of state variables which are realised by varying coupling phase. We have introduced a coupling matrix in the model to vary coupling phase. The excitatory and inhibitory couplings in the membrane potential induce in-phase and anti-phase bursting dynamics, respectively, in the two coupled system.

We report the exact phase dynamics of Manakov bright and dark vector solitons in an inhomogeneous optical system by means of a variable coefficient coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equation. To investigate the phase dynamics, we have modified the Manakov system with a relation between two modes of propagation, that are obtained by the Hirota bilinear method. The importance of the phase study in soliton interaction is revealed by asymptotic analysis of two-soliton solutions.

The development of room temperature gas sensors having response towards a specific gas is attracting researchers nowadays in the field. In the present work, room temperature (29 °C) ethanol sensor based on vertically aligned ZnO nanorods decorated with CuO nanoparticles was successfully fabricated by simple cost effective solution processing. The heterojunction sensor exhibits better sensor parameters compared to pristine ZnO.

Erbium (Er) doped zinc oxide (ZnO) powder was prepared using co-precipitation method. Effect of ytterbium (Yb) and molybdenum (Mo) co-doping on upconversion emission was studied. The emission intensity has been enhanced on Yb co-doping due to energy transfer from Yb to Er.

We investigate the dynamics of vector dark solitons propagation using variable coefficient coupled nonlinear Schrödinger (Vc-CNLS) equation. The dark soliton propagation and evolution dynamics in the inhomogeneous system are studied analytically by employing the Hirota bilinear method. It is apparent from our asymptotic analysis that the collision between the dark solitons is elastic in nature.

Background: Stroke in the young is particularly tragic because of its potential to create a long-term burden on the victims, their families, and the community. There had been relatively few studies on young stroke in Kerala's socio-economic setup, that too encapsulating the mentioned apparently relevant dimensions of stroke in the young.

Objective: To study the prevalence, patterns and risk factors of young stroke.
