Magnetic MnFeO nanoparticles and polymer coated magnetic-luminescent MnFeO@(Y,Dy/Eu)VO nanocomposites were prepared to study their comparative heat generation efficiency and biocompatibilities. Cubic crystalline phases were obtained for the nanoparticles and cubic-tetragonal biphasic phases were observed for the nanocomposites. The successful doping of Mn was also confirmed by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy.

Multifunctional nanosized particles are very beneficial in the field of biomedicine. Bioactive and highly biocompatible calcium phosphate (CaP) nanoparticles (∼50 nm) exhibiting both superparamagnetic and fluorescence properties were synthesized by incorporating dual ions (Fe and Sr) in HAp (hydroxyapatite) [Ca(PO)(OH)]. Insertion of Fe creates oxygen vacancies at the PO site, thereby destabilizing the structure.

Apart from these developmental processes, hypoxia preconditioning or mild hypoxic sensitization develops resistance against ischemic stroke in deteriorating tissues. We therefore hypothesized that neurons resulting from hypoxia-regulated neuronal differentiation could be the best choice for treating brain ischemia, which contributes to neurodegeneration.

In the present work, Fe is incorporated into HAp nanoparticles by thermal treatment at various temperatures. Induction heating was examined within the threshold H f value of 4.

Neural tissue engineering aims at producing a simulated environment using a matrix that is suitable to grow specialized neurons/glial cells pertaining to CNS/PNS which replace damaged or lost tissues. The primary goal of this study is to design a compatible scaffold that supports the development of neural-lineage cells which aids in neural regeneration. The fabricated, freeze-dried scaffolds consisted of biocompatible, natural and synthetic polymers: gelatin and polyvinyl pyrrolidone.

Not many reports are available on magnetic-luminescent nanocomposites for cancer hyperthermia applications. Further, such nanocomposites on Mn-doped iron oxide may be available rather rarely. Studies on the induction heating properties within the threshold magnetic field and frequency factors are still rare.
