Background And Aims: Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is an established modality of treatment for severe psychiatric illnesses. Among the various complications associated with ECT, oxygen desaturation is often under reported. None of the previous studies has evaluated the predictive factors for oxygen desaturation during ECT.

The burden of headache disorders in India: methodology and questionnaire validation for a community-based survey in Karnataka State.

Primary headache disorders are a major public-health problem globally and, possibly more so, in low- and middle-income countries. No methodologically sound studies of prevalence and burden of headache in the adult Indian population have been published previously. The present study was a door-to-door cold-calling survey in urban and rural areas in and around Bangalore, Karnataka State.

Predictive model for survival among neurosurgical intensive care patients.

Background: Models for prediction of outcome of intensive care patients greatly help the physician to make decisions and are also important for risk stratification in clinical research and quality improvement. At present, there are no major predictive models for neurosurgical intensive care unit (NSICU) patients. This study aimed to develop a predictive model for survival in NSICU patients.

Lower risk of Parkinson's disease in an admixed population of European and Indian origins.

We studied whether the occurrence of Parkinson's disease (PD) in the Anglo-Indians, an admixed population of European and Asian Indian origin, differs from Indians living in the same environment. Epidemiological studies show considerably higher prevalence of PD amongst white compared to non-white populations. Normal Indians contain a approximately 40% lower number of melanized nigral neurons compared to Caucasians from the UK.
