Sensing and imaging with fluorescent, plasmonic, and magnetic colloidal nano- and microparticles have improved during the past decade. In this review, we describe the concepts and applications of how these techniques can be used in the multiplexed mode, that is, sensing of several analytes in parallel or imaging of several labels in parallel.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFor several decades, experimental studies have sought to explain the biological causes of newborn seizures and to assess the anatomical and functional consequences. Laboratory studies have shown that prolonged or repeated seizures disturb central nervous system development and may predispose to later epilepsy or cognitive deficits. Although these findings have not been clinically demonstrated in humans, several observations suggest that neonatal seizures have a deleterious effect on the immature brain and generate long-term sequelae.

Methods: An observational, multicenter study was carried out in 23 French pediatric emergency units. Each unit was requested to include the first 25 children less than five years of age, consulting for AGE during the epidemic season.
