Somatic embryogenesis is the process by which bipolar structures with no vascular connection with the surrounding tissue are formed from a single or a group of vegetative cells, and in conifers it can be divided into five different steps: initiation, proliferation, maturation, germination and acclimatization. Somatic embryogenesis has long been used as a model to study the mechanisms regulating stress response in plants, and recent research carried out in our laboratory has demonstrated that high temperatures during initial stages of conifer somatic embryogenesis modify subsequent phases of the process, as well as the behavior of the resulting plants . The development of high-throughput techniques has facilitated the study of the molecular response of plants to numerous stress factors.

Introduction: The pre-death grief in family caregivers (FC) of people with Alzheimer's disease has not been sufficiently treated in studies on this group. Thus, the design and validation of informative printed materials is relevant due to its important implications for the well-being of these FCs and their training in the proper performance of their role. The objective was to design and validate a booklet aimed at informing FCs about this topic, as well as the procedure for its dissemination and use.

In recent years, the green microalgae Neochloris oleoabundans have demonstrated to be an interesting natural source of carotenoids that could be used as potential food additive. In this work, different N. oleoabundans extracts obtained by pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) have been analyzed in depth to evaluate the influence of different culture conditions (effect of nitrogen, light intensity or carbon supplied) not only on the total carotenoid content but also on the carotenoid composition produced by these microalgae.

A novel experimental design was used to optimize the extraction of carotenoids from Neochloris oleoabundans using pressurized liquid extraction with food-grade solvents such as ethanol and limonene. Experimental factors, including the extraction temperature and the solvent composition, were optimized using a three-level factorial design. The response variables extraction yield and total amount of carotenoids were assessed.
