The impact of the doctor-nurse-patient workshop transitional care model on the post-operative quality of life of patients with laryngeal cancer.

Objective: The aim of this study is to assess the efficacy of the doctor-nurse-patient workshop transitional care model on post-operative care for patients with laryngeal cancer and its influence on quality of life.

Methods: A total of 68 patients with laryngeal cancer who underwent surgical treatment at the hospital between 2021 and 2022 were included in the study. The patients were divided into two groups, a control group and a research group, each consisting of 34 patients, based on the chronological sequence of their surgeries.

Utilizing child-centered nursing care approaches for pediatric ENT patients undergoing nasal endoscopy.

Objective: To investigate whether the child-centered treatment significantly increased satisfaction as revealed by CBCL scores and decreased duration of nasal endoscopy.

Methods: A total of 206 pediatric patients were selected as study participants. Using a random number table, the participants were divided into the control group and the treatment group, with 103 cases in each group.

[Determination of organic acids and anions in exhaled breath by condensation collection-ion chromatography].

A non-invasive condensation collection-ion chromatography method was established for the determination of organic acids and anions including lactic acid, formic acid, acetic acid, pyruvic acid, chloride, nitrate, nitrite, and sulfate in the exhaled breath of humans. The breath exhaled was condensed and collected using a home-made exhaled breath condensation equipment. This equipment included a disposable mouthpiece as a blow-off port, one-way valve and flow meter, cold trap, disposable condensate collection tube placed in the cold trap, and gas outlet.

[Clinical features of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 Omicron variant infection in children: an analysis of 201 cases].

Objectives: To study the clinical features of children with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) Omicron variant infection.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on the medical data of 201 children with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) who were hospitalized and diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant infection in Quanzhou First Hospital from March 14 to April 7, 2022. Among the 201 children, there were 34 children with asymptomatic infection and 167 with symptomatic infection.

Clinical report of a neonate carrying a large deletion in the 10p15.3p13 region and review of the literature.

Background: Terminal deletion of chromosome 10p is a rare chromosomal abnormality. We report a neonatal case with a large deletion of 10p15.3p13 diagnosed early because of severe clinical manifestations.

Effects of Prenatal PM Exposure on Fetal Cardiovascular Malformations in Fuzhou, China: A Retrospective Case-Control Study.

Background: Maternal exposure to ambient air pollution has been associated with an increased risk of congenital heart defects in offspring; however, the results are inconsistent.

Objectives: We investigated whether there is an association between prenatal exposure to particulate matter with diameter ≤10μm (PM) during early pregnancy and fetal cardiovascular malformations.

Methods: The gravidae from a hospital-based case–control study in Fuzhou, China, during 2007–2013 were assigned 10-d or 1-mo averages of daily PM using an air monitor–based inverse distance weighting method during early pregnancy.

Clonidine attenuates morphine withdrawal and subsequent drug sensitization in rhesus monkeys.

Aim: Clonidine is an alpha2 adrenoceptor agonist that is frequently used to reduce withdrawal symptoms during opioid detoxification in humans. The long-term effects of clonidine on withdrawal symptoms and its effects on subsequent drug exposure have not been thoroughly documented. The aim of the study was to determine if clonidine administered during morphine withdrawal in rhesus monkeys produces long-lasting effects on withdrawal symptoms and alters the effects of subsequently taken drugs of abuse.

[Study on the S region gene mutation of hepatitis B virus during prevention of HBV transmission in uterus with hepatitis B immunoglobulin].

Objective: To study the relationship between hepatitis B immunoglobulin (HBIG) injection before delivery and hepatitis B virus (HBV) S gene mutation.

Methods: 18 neonates infected with HBV in uterus and their mothers were divided to a) HBIG group (8) in which their mothers received HBIG injection before delivery and b) control group (10) in which their mothers never received any treatment HBV DNA fragments were amplified by nest-PCR from sera of these neonates and their mothers. S gene region of these HBV DNA fragments were directly sequenced and data on mutations was analyzed.

Different effects of valproate on methamphetamine- and cocaine-induced behavioral sensitization in mice.

Repetitive exposure to psychostimulants elicits behavioral sensitization. Accumulating evidence have shown that the central GABAergic system is involved in psychostimulants sensitization. Valproate, a clinically widely used anticonvulsant mood-stabilizing agent, can modulate central GABAergic neurotransmission.
