Infantile cholestatic hepatopathy (ICH) is a clinical syndrome characterized by the accumulation of cytotoxic bile acids in infancy, leading to serious liver cirrhosis or liver failure. The aetiology of ICH is complicated and some of them is unknown. Regardless of the aetiology, the finial pathology of ICH is hepatocyte apoptosis caused by severe and persistent cholestasis.

Objective: To investigate the protective effect of emodin in young rats with intrahepatic cholestasis.

Methods: A total of 120 young Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into control, model, and high-, medium-, and low-dose emodin groups, with 24 rats in each group. The rats in the control and model groups were given sodium carboxymethyl cellulose solution by gavage, while the other groups were given different doses of emodin solution by gavage.

Objective: To observe the clinical effects of Linda Mixture (LM) on cholestatic liver diseases caused by cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection.

Methods: Totally 240 CMV infected cholestatic liver diseases infants, who were hospitalized at the Department of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, Wuhan Children's Hospital from January 2008 to June 2011, were randomly assigned to the treatment group (120 cases) and the control group (120 cases). Patients in the treatment group were treated by LM combined ganciclovir, while those in the control group were treated by ganciclovir alone.
