Vital pulp therapy (VPT) has gained prominence with the increasing trends towards conservative dental treatment with specific indications for preserving tooth vitality by selectively removing the inflamed tissue instead of the entire dental pulp. Although VPT has shown high success rates in long-term follow-up, adverse effects have been reported due to the calcification of tooth canals by mineral trioxide aggregates (MTAs), which are commonly used in VPT. Canal calcification poses challenges for accessing instruments during retreatment procedures.

Aim: Limiting the incidence of resorption associated with delayed replantation of avulsed teeth is critical for long-term tooth survival. In this study, we assessed whether icariin, a natural product with anti-osteoclastic properties, could reduce root resorption in a rat model of tooth replantation.

Methodology: Cytocompatibility of icariin (10, 20, 40 and 80 μM) was evaluated by CCK-8 proliferation assay in vitro, and an osteoclastogenesis assay was performed to evaluate the effect of icariin on the differentiation of rat bone marrow macrophages and human peripheral blood monocytes into tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase-stained (TRAP ) multinucleated giant cells (MNGCs).

This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of ultrasonic vibration and thermo-hydrodynamic obturation (VibraTHO) using two types of root canal sealers, in comparison to the single-cone (SC) technique and a calcium silicate-based root canal sealer in complex root canal anatomies. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether tooth-brushing with a microcurrent was effective in inducing dentinal tubule occlusion. The specific aims of the study were (1) to evaluate the effectiveness of tooth-brushing with a microcurrent on dentinal tubule occlusion by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM); and (2) to compare the dentinal fluid flow rate after tooth-brushing with a microcurrent by using a sub-nanoliter-scaled fluid flow measuring device (NFMD). All experimental groups showed partially occluded dentinal tubules and crystal-like structures at a specific microcurrent intensity indicated that tooth-brushing with a microcurrent could efficiently occlude dentinal tubules.
