Background: Since 1992, over 800 pancreas transplants have been performed in Korea. However, this number is significantly lower compared to the number of kidney or liver transplants.
Methods: Between 2015 and July 2023, Pusan National University Yangsan Hospital conducted 100 pancreas transplants, accounting for about 20% of all transplants performed in Korea during this period.
Background: Simultaneous pancreas and kidney transplant (SPK) is the most common type of pancreas transplant performed worldwide. In contrast, there are a few drawbacks to pancreas after kidney transplant (PAK), such as the requirement for an additional operation, the immunologic risk, etc. SPK is the best option, but because of a lack of deceased donors and a lengthy waiting period, it is not always possible to use it.

On the purpose of finding ways to improve the interfacial properties, the investigation of the nanostructure and nanomechanical properties of the interphase in CF/PA-6 composites were essential. In this study, MD simulation was carried out to show the interfacial formation and nanostructure of the CF/PA-6 composite model directly at the atomic level and compute the radial distribution function, interfacial energy, total energy.

However, most ionogels suffer from low strength and poor toughness, which limit their practical applications. This article presents a strategy for fabricating ionogels with high toughness by constructing high-density hydrogen bonds within their microstructure.

Recently, epigenetic regulation has been reported to play an important role in plant cell differentiation and establishment of pluripotency. Herein, we tested the effects of chemicals, which interfere with epigenetic regulation, on the plant regeneration from mesophyll protoplasts of lettuce.

Researchers fill phase change material (PCM) into three-dimensional graphene foam, to obtain a composite with high energy storage capability and moderate thermal conductivity. However, this kind of composite's heat transfer mode is single and cannot maximize the advantages of graphene.

To investigate whether the regulation of chromatin de-condensation by TSA can affect the increase in the efficiency of Cas9 protein-gRNA ribonucleoprotein (RNP) indel formation from plant cells, genome editing efficiency using lettuce and tobacco protoplasts was examined after several concentrations of TSA treatments (0, 0.1, 1 and 10 μM).

Large-sized graphene oxide flakes and thermal treatment were employed to fabricate lightweight, flexible and highly conductive graphene films. Compared to graphene films made of smaller-sized flakes, the graphene film made of large-sized flakes possesses less defects and more conjugated domains, leading to higher electrical and higher thermal conductivities, as well as higher EMI SE.

However, the relatively poor thermal transfer properties in the normal direction of GP restricts its wider applications in thermal management. In this work, a 3D bridged carbon nanoring (CNR)/graphene hybrid paper is constructed by the intercalation of polymer carbon source and metal catalyst particles, and the subsequent in situ growth of CNRs in the confined intergallery spaces between graphene sheets through thermal annealing.

Purpose: This research was conducted to examine the relationship of knowledge, health beliefs, and self-efficacy on osteoporosis.
Method: The design of this study was a correlative design. The subjects were 1,615 Korean adults over the age of 20 registered in a new town and participants were asked to fill in a questionnaire developed by Kim, Horan & Gendler (1991), translated into Korean.
