The present case report describes a mother and son with arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (ACM) with early and greater left ventricle (LV) involvement. The presence of curly hair in both, together with the resuscitated sudden cardiac death of the mother, allowed timely genetic testing, which found a pathogenic nonsense mutation of the desmoplakin gene. While asymptomatic from an arrhythmic point of view, the son's evolution was characterized by a well-documented exercise-induced myocarditis-like stage.

Background: Previously, glycopeptides antibiotics such as vancomycin, ramoplanin and an antifungal antibiotic nystatin have been studied for their diagnostic and therapeutic potential.

Our goal was to use an ectopic odorant receptor to target prostate-derived cells throughout the body for imaging by magnetic resonance and fluorescence imaging. Our limited ability to improve the survival of patients with heart failure is attributable, in part, to the inability of the mammalian heart to meaningfully regenerate itself. The recent identification of distinct families of multipotent cardiovascular progenitor cells from endogenous, as well as exogenous, sources, such as embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells, has raised much hope that therapeutic manipulation of these cells may lead to regression of many forms of cardiovascular disease. Although the exact source and cell type remains to be clarified, our greater understanding of the scientific underpinning behind developmental cardiovascular progenitor cell biology has helped to clarify the origin and properties of diverse cells with putative cardiogenic potential.

The interleukin 6 receptor (IL-6R) and its ligand interleukin 6 (IL-6) play a crucial role in glioma growth and development accomplished by autocrine growth promotion and induction of angiogenesis via activation of vascular epithelial growth factor A (VEGF-A). Therefore, IL-6R represents a target for both therapy (preventing VEGF-A activation by blocking the receptor) and imaging (higher receptor density on tumor cells).
