Introduction: The critical role of emergency physicians in military settings underscores the necessity for a broad and proficient skill set, especially in life-saving procedures such as thoracostomies, endotracheal intubations, and cricothyrotomies, to maintain combat readiness. The current peacetime phase, however, presents challenges in maintaining these skills because of decreased exposure to high-acuity medical scenarios. This decrease in exposure jeopardizes skills retention among military emergency medicine physicians, highlighted by studies showing a significant decline in performance over time because of reduced practice.

This study explores minoritized mothers' experiences in group interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT-G) and relates their experiences to treatment outcomes. Quantitative and qualitative data were gathered from 26 Latinx and Black mothers who participated in IPT-G. Mothers were divided into three groups: (1) not depressed at follow-up, (2) depressed at follow-up, and (3) those with subclinical symptoms throughout the intervention, and similarities and differences across groups were examined.

Cleavage of the innate immune receptor NLRP1B by various microbial proteases causes the proteasomal degradation of its N-terminal fragment and the subsequent release of a C-terminal fragment that forms an inflammasome. We reported previously that metabolic stress caused by intracellular bacteria triggers NLRP1B activation, but the mechanism by which this occurs was not elucidated. Here we demonstrate that TLR4 signaling in metabolically stressed macrophages promotes the formation of a TRIF/RIPK1/caspase-8 complex.

Head-fixation of mice enables high-resolution monitoring of neuronal activity coupled with precise control of environmental stimuli. Virtual reality can be used to emulate the visual experience of movement during head fixation, but a low inertia floating real-world environment (mobile homecage, MHC) has the potential to engage more sensory modalities and provide a richer experimental environment for complex behavioral tasks. The Trauma Recovery Clinic (TRC) was developed to meet the psychiatric, psychological, and psychosocial needs of traumatically injured patients following discharge from a level-I trauma center. The objective of this study is to demonstrate the efficacy of the TRC as an application of the stepped collaborative care model in order to address health disparities.
