Background: Discharge to Assess (D2A) emerged as a critical process during the COVID-19 pandemic facilitating patient flow within hospitals, however research on the post-discharge community services of this pathway remains limited. We conducted an evaluation to examine the impacts, capacity, processes and barriers associated with D2A and to identify best practice across three sites in the southeast of England.
Methods: We interviewed 29 commissioners, providers and staff members involved in the delivery of D2A pathways within three Health and Care Partnerships.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe photochemical and thermal stability of the detergent-solubilized blue- and green-absorbing proteorhodpsins, BPR and GPR, respectively, are investigated to determine the viability of these proteins for photonic device applications. Photochemical stability is studied by using pulsed laser excitation and differential UV-vis spectroscopy to assign the photocyclicity. GPR, with a cyclicity of 7 × 10(4) photocycles protein(-1), is 4-5 times more stable than BPR (9 × 10(3) photocycles protein(-1)), but is less stable than native bacteriorhodopsin (9 × 10(5) photocycles protein(-1)) or the 4-keto-bacteriorhodopsin analogue (1 × 10(5) photocycles protein(-1)).

We have sequenced the region containing the homeotic selector genes required for proper development of the head and anterior thorax, which is the counterpart of the ANTC in Drosophila. This 280-kb interval contains eight homeodomain-encoding genes, including single orthologs of the Drosophila genes labial, proboscipedia, Deformed, Sex combs reduced, fushi tarazu, and Antennapedia, as well as two orthologs of zerknüllt.
