Objective: With an aging population and advancements in imaging, recurrence of thoracic aortic dissection is becoming more common.
Methods: All patients enrolled in the International Registry of Aortic Dissection from 1996 to 2023 with type A and type B acute aortic dissection were identified. Among them, initial dissection and recurrent dissection were discerned.
Objective: The International Registry of Acute Aortic Dissection (IRAD) celebrated its 25th anniversary in January 2021. This study evaluated IRAD's role in promoting the understanding and management of acute aortic dissection (AD) over these years.
Methods: IRAD studies were identified, analyzed, and ranked according to their citations per year (c/y) to determine the most-cited IRAD studies and topics.
Importance: Early data revealed a mortality rate of 1% to 2% per hour for type A acute aortic dissection (TAAAD) during the initial 48 hours. Despite advances in diagnostic testing and treatment, this mortality rate continues to be cited because of a lack of contemporary data characterizing early mortality and the effect of timely surgery.
Objective: To examine early mortality rates for patients with TAAAD in the contemporary era.
Background: Previous work has demonstrated that more than one-half of acute type A aortic dissections (ATADs) occur at a maximal aortic diameter (MAD) of <5.5 cm. Methods: We examined rates of imaging and clinic visits in 267 individuals surviving AAD during recommended intervals (≤1, > 1-3, > 3-6, > 6-12 months, then annually), frequency of adverse imaging findings, and the relationship between follow-up and mortality.
Results: Type A and B AAD were noted in 46 and 54% of patients, respectively.

Methods: We carried out a retrospective chart review from January 2009 to June 2010 of patients with acute ischaemic stroke or TIA who had undergone transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) or transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE). Clinical and imaging findings at baseline were noted and 'potential clinically relevant findings' identified on TTE and TOE.

Transesophageal echocardiogram and cardiac computed tomography revealed an unrecognized congenital malformation of the anterior mitral leaflet associated with anomalous left coronary circumflex artery, arising from the right coronary artery, diagnosed first by echocardiogram. Methods: Patients with type A acute dissection enrolled in the International Registry for Acute Dissection (IRAD) were evaluated to assess differences in clinical features, management, and in-hospital outcomes according to the presence/absence of mesenteric malperfusion. A mortality model was used to identify predictors of in-hospital mortality in patients with mesenteric malperfusion.
Objective: The risk of acute type B aortic dissection is thought to increase with descending thoracic aortic diameter. Currently, elective repair of the descending thoracic aorta is indicated for an aortic diameter of 5.5 cm or greater.
