Molecular characterization of a grapevine leafroll-associated virus 4 from Slovenian vineyards.

During a survey conducted in vineyards in Slovenia, variety of grapevine leafroll disease symptoms were observed. Mixed infection with grapevine leafroll-associated viruses 3 and 4 (GLRaV-3, -4) in two grapevines from a vineyard in south-western part of Slovenia was confirmed by DAS-ELISA in 2010. The 3'final 1769 nucleotides of the Slovenian GLRaV-4 isolate were assembled from amplicons obtained by IC RT-PCR.

Turbulent axially directed flow of plasma containing rt-PA promotes thrombolysis of non-occlusive whole blood clots in vitro.

The rate of thrombolysis markedly decreases after a thrombosed vessel is partly recanalized and the remaining clot poses serious risk for rethrombosis. We studied in vitro how thrombolysis depends on penetration of plasma containing thrombolytic agents - 0.2 micro g/ml rt-PA or 250 IU/ml streptokinase (SK) - and the magnetic resonance contrast agent Gd-DTPA (at 1 mmol/l) into non-occlusive clots under conditions of fast (turbulent) or slow (laminar) axially directed flow.

Amount and Avidity of IgG Antibodies to Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Exotoxin A Antigen in Cystic Fibrosis Patients.

Design and application of electron-transporting organic materials.

Operating lifetime is the main problem that complicates the use of polymeric light-emitting diodes (LEDs). A class of electron transport (ET) polymers [poly(aryl acrylate) and poly(aryl ether)s] is reported in which moieties with high electron affinities are covalently attached to stable polymer backbones. Devices based on poly(p-phenylenevinylene) (PPV) prepared with these materials exhibited a 30-fold improvement in stability and, in one case, dramatically lower (10 volts versus about 30 volts) operating voltage relative to those having conventional ET layers.

Cystic fibrosis gene mutations and linked RFLPs in the Slovenian population.

The authors used polymerase chain reaction to analyse 56 Slovenian cystic fibrosis (CF) chromosomes for the presence of delta F508 and eight other most frequent mutations located in exons 7,11 and 20 (R347P, R334W, G551D, R553X, S549RA, S549RT, S549I and S1255X) of the CF gene. We also determined the frequency of haplotypes associated with CF for six linked RFLP markers (MetD/TaqI, MetH/TaqI, XV-2c/TaqI, KM-19/PstI, MP6d9/MspI and J3.11/MspI) in 27 Slovenian CF families.
