Introduction: Transurethral resection of the bladder (TURB) is a common urological procedure, typically performed in an inpatient setting. This study aims to investigate safety, quality, and patient satisfaction aspects of TURB in an outpatient setting, reflecting the emerging strategy of outpatientization of surgical procedures in the German healthcare system.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed a cohort of 100 patients who underwent outpatient TURB.

Background: Video content has become an increasingly valuable tool in medical education, particularly for teaching hands-on skills like sonography and clinical examination. This study evaluates the satisfaction and content of sonography and clinical examination videos on the AMBOSS platform, a prominent medical education resource in Germany.

Objective: The goal of this study was to compare how effective and well-received sonography and clinical examination videos are on the AMBOSS platform.

An international multicentre randomised controlled trial of en bloc resection of bladder tumour vs conventional transurethral resection of bladder tumour: first results of the en bloc resection of urothelium carcinoma of the bladder (EBRUC) II trial.

Objectives: To determine the safety and oncological advantages of en bloc resection of bladder tumour (ERBT) vs conventional transurethral resection of bladder tumour (cTURBT) in terms of resection quality, staging quality, and safety.

Patients And Methods: We conducted a single-blinded randomised controlled trial at seven European hospitals with the following inclusion criteria: first diagnosis of non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer, no singular carcinoma in situ, and tumour size >4.3 mm.

We improve the pre-analytics of clinical samples for proteome analyses and characterize a cohort of 434 samples with 242 tumors and 192 paired normal mucosae covering the full range of UC.

Bioactive adrenomedullin (bio-ADM) is a peptide regulating vascular tone and endothelial permeability. The aim of this study was to evaluate the dynamics of plasma bio-ADM in this patient cohort and its role in capillary leak.

Introduction: Urine cytology (UC) is a recommended tool for the diagnosis of urothelial malignancies. Thus far, no specific recommendations regarding the role of washing cytology (WC) have been included in the guidelines. The goal of our study was to analyse the relationship between the histology of transurethrally (transurethral resection of the bladder [TURBT]) resected bladder tumours (BCa) and intraoperative UC or WC findings.

Antioxidant Supplementation on Male Fertility-A Systematic Review.

Unlabelled: Our aim was to review the current literature regarding the effect of antioxidant supplementation (AS) on male fertility parameters, as AS is commonly used to treat male infertility due to the availability and affordability of antioxidants in many parts of the world.

Materials And Methods: PubMed, Medline, and Cochrane electronic bibliographies were searched using the modified Preferred Reporting Items for Systemic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines to evaluate studies on the benefit of antioxidant therapy on infertile men. Results were analyzed regarding the following aspects: (a) ingredient and dose; (b) potential mechanism of action and rationale for use; and (c) effect on various reported outcomes.

Methods: From 01/2020 to 04/2021, patients admitted for radical prostatectomy, radical cystectomy, or renal tumor surgery received a questionnaire on decision-making in hospital choice and the use of HRWs at 10 German urologic clinics.

Effects of enrichment strategies on outcome of adrecizumab treatment in septic shock: analyses of the phase II adrenomedullin and outcome in septic shock 2 trial.

Purpose: Adrecizumab, a non-neutralizing antibody of adrenomedullin (ADM) was recently investigated regarding its potential to restore endothelial barrier function in septic shock patients with high plasma ADM levels. Circulating dipeptidyl peptidase 3 (cDPP3), a protease involved in the degradation of several cardiovascular mediators, represents another biological pathway strongly associated with outcome in septic shock, although unrelated to ADM. Therefore, the prognosis of patients with elevated cDPP3 may not be influenced by Adrecizumab.

The effect of a randomised controlled lifestyle intervention on weight loss and plasma proneurotensin.

Aims: Proneurotensin (Pro-NT) is a strong predictor of cardiometabolic disease including type 2 diabetes and obesity, however, the effect of lifestyle change on Pro-NT has not been investigated in this context. Middle Eastern (ME) immigrants represent the largest and fastest growing minority population in Europe and are a high-risk population for obesity and type 2 diabetes. In this randomised controlled lifestyle intervention (RCT) addressing ME immigrants to Sweden where weight-loss was previously studied as the main outcome, as a secondary analysis we aimed to study change in Pro-NT during follow-up and if baseline Pro-NT predicted weight loss.

[Liability for chronic working time violations in medicine: when does the risk of fines and imprisonment loom?].

Against the background of the changes in the collective bargaining agreement-for municipal hospitals in the version of January 1, 2021, and for university hospitals in the version of March 7, 2020-this article deals with the legal consequences of chronic violations of the German Working Hours Act in medicine, but especially in surgical specialties such as urology. It includes an overview of current law and sanctions for violations and highlights responsibilities as well as exceptions. It is important to clarify the distribution of responsibilities with regard to working hours in the institution concerned in order to avoid fines and, in the worst case, imprisonment.

Central Mongolian lake sediments reveal new insights on climate change and equestrian empires in the Eastern Steppes.

The repeated expansion of East Asian steppe cultures was a key driver of Eurasian history, forging new social, economic, and biological links across the continent. Climate has been suggested as important driver of these poorly understood cultural expansions, but paleoclimate records from the Mongolian Plateau often suffer from poor age control or ambiguous proxy interpretation. Here, we use a combination of geochemical analyses and comprehensive radiocarbon dating to establish the first robust and detailed record of paleohydrological conditions for Lake Telmen, Mongolia, covering the past ~ 4000 years.

Rock weathering and pedogenesis are fundamental processes for element mobility in terrestrial bio-geochemical cycles and for the regulation of primary productivity in adjacent coastal marine ecosystems. Here, soils developed from volcanic ash under extreme climate conditions could play a particular role. We therefore investigated rock weathering, soil formation and the associated mobilization of trace elements and micronutrients in a pristine South Patagonian ecosystem.

[Implementation of the new collective agreement in 2021 in urological clinics : Expectations and reality].

The amendment to the collective agreement is intended to significantly improve the working conditions of physicians and includes longer-term duty scheduling, work on a maximum of two weekends per month, less overtime. Smaller hospitals often have problems implementing these requirements and have to make compromises. At least the overtime is now better paid-overall, an improvement in working conditions can only be achieved by increasing the number of staff, then better and more intensive training is also possible.
