Literature data and original experience of the authors in 46 patients with pulmonary lesions (chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, postoperative conditions after pulmonary surgery) suggest the existence of relationships between pulmonary diseases and those of nervous system (central and peripheral). X-ray, ultrasound dopplerography of the major cerebral vessels, EEG and REG revealed cerebrovascular disorders (vascular insufficiency, slow venous outflow). Physiotherapy produced positive changes both in pulmonary and neurological disorders.

120 patients with Guillain-Barre syndrome and other peripheral myelinopathies were randomly assigned to three treatment groups. One of the group was exposed to pulsed high frequency electric field (47 patients), the other group to continuous current (52 patients), and the third group received the imitation of therapy (21 patients). Pulsed current therapy caused the greatest regress of the neurological deficit (45 from 47 cases).
