Animal welfare legislation routinely places obligations on owners of animals to take action to ensure that the welfare of the animal(s) is protected. Such legislation often requires animals to be sheltered by appropriate housing. Where facilities are built to provide animal housing it may be necessary to seek planning permission for the development, this is particularly an issue in relation to commercial facilities.

Optimizing Differentiated HIV Treatment Models in Urban Zimbabwe: Assessing Patient Preferences Using a Discrete Choice Experiment.

Differentiated service delivery holds great promise for streamlining the delivery of health services for HIV. This study used a discrete choice experiment to assess preferences for differentiated HIV treatment delivery model characteristics among 500 virally suppressed adults on antiretroviral therapy in Harare, Zimbabwe. Treatment model characteristics included location, consultation type, healthcare worker cadre, operation times, visit frequency and duration, and cost.

Maintenance of wakefulness test: how does it predict accident risk in patients with sleep disorders?

Study Objective: To determine whether the objective level of alertness measured by the Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT) is associated with the occurrence of self-reported sleepiness-related traffic near misses and accidents related to sleepiness in patients with sleep disorders.

Methods: This case-control study was conducted over a three-year period in four French sleep centers during a 4∗40 min MWT in patients driving more than 5000 Km/year. Relationship between mean sleep latency on the MWT (MWT latency) and age, sex, driving, sleepiness-related near misses and accidents reported during the previous year, and sleep disorder characteristics was analyzed.

Cognitive deficits and psychosocial functioning in adult ADHD: Bridging the gap between objective test measures and subjective reports.

Introduction: Self-reported cognitive deficits in adult Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity-Disorder (ADHD) are often not corroborated by standardized tests. Tests and reports also differ in their correspondence to aspects of psychosocial functioning. Executive function tasks (EF-tasks) using material close to daily life, may provide a more ecologically-valid assessment of cognitive deficits.

The visual array task: A novel gaze-based measure of object label and category knowledge.

Visual attention measures of receptive vocabulary place minimal task demand on participants and produce a more accurate measure of language comprehension than parent report measures. However, current gaze-based measures employ visual comparisons limited to two simultaneous items. With this limitation, the degree of similarity of the target to the distractor can have a significant impact on the interpretation of task performance.

This paper introduces , a mobile application for motor evaluation and monitoring of Parkinson's disease patients. The App is based on previously reported methods, for instance, the evaluation of articulation and pronunciation in speech, regularity and freezing of gait in walking, and tapping accuracy in hand movement. Preliminary experiments indicate that most of the measurements are suitable to discriminate patients and controls.

Measurement of the Lund Jet Plane Using Charged Particles in 13 TeV Proton-Proton Collisions with the ATLAS Detector.

The prevalence of hadronic jets at the LHC requires that a deep understanding of jet formation and structure is achieved in order to reach the highest levels of experimental and theoretical precision. There have been many measurements of jet substructure at the LHC and previous colliders, but the targeted observables mix physical effects from various origins. Based on a recent proposal to factorize physical effects, this Letter presents a double-differential cross-section measurement of the Lund jet plane using 139  fb^{-1} of sqrt[s]=13  TeV proton-proton collision data collected with the ATLAS detector using jets with transverse momentum above 675 GeV.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients have higher CSF levels of tau, but we lack knowledge of systems-wide changes of CSF protein levels that accompany AD.

[H]Dopamine Uptake through the Dopamine and Norepinephrine Transporters is Decreased in the Prefrontal Cortex of Transgenic Mice Expressing HIV-1 Transactivator of Transcription Protein.

Dysregulation of dopamine neurotransmission has been linked to the development of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-associated neurocognitive disorder (HAND). To investigate the mechanisms underlying this phenomenon, this study used an inducible HIV-1 transactivator of transcription (Tat) transgenic (iTat-tg) mouse model, which demonstrates brain-specific Tat expression induced by administration of doxycycline. We found that induction of Tat expression in the iTat-tg mice for either 7 or 14 days resulted in a decrease (∼30%) in the of [H]dopamine uptake via both the dopamine transporter (DAT) and norepinephrine transporter (NET) in the prefrontal cortex (PFC), which was comparable to the magnitude (∼35%) of the decrease in for [H]WIN 35,428 and [H]nisoxetine binding to DAT and NET, respectively.

Background: There has been increased attention to the menstrual health management (MHM) needs of girls and young women in Eastern and Southern Africa, relating to dignity, and to the potential link between the lack of access to sanitary products and school absenteeism. Genetic polymorphisms of IL17A associated with Chagas disease: results from a meta-analysis in Latin American populations.

Genetic factors and the immunologic response have been suggested to determine the susceptibility against the infection and the outcome of Chagas disease. In the present study, we analysed three IL17A genetic variants (rs4711998, rs8193036 and rs2275913) regarding the predisposition to Trypanosoma cruzi infection and the development of chronic Chagas cardiomyopathy (CCC) in different Latin American populations. A total of 2,967 individuals from Colombia, Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil, were included in this study.

Measurement of Azimuthal Anisotropy of Muons from Charm and Bottom Hadrons in pp Collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV with the ATLAS Detector.

The elliptic flow of muons from the decay of charm and bottom hadrons is measured in pp collisions at sqrt[s]=13  TeV using a data sample with an integrated luminosity of 150  pb^{-1} recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The muons from heavy-flavor decay are separated from light-hadron decay muons using momentum imbalance between the tracking and muon spectrometers. The heavy-flavor decay muons are further separated into those from charm decay and those from bottom decay using the distance-of-closest-approach to the collision vertex.

nanoTRON: a Picasso module for MLP-based classification of super-resolution data.

Motivation: Classification of images is an essential task in higher-level analysis of biological data. By bypassing the diffraction limit of light, super-resolution microscopy opened up a new way to look at molecular details using light microscopy, producing large amounts of data with exquisite spatial detail.
