They represent crack-like dehiscences at the level of the Bruch's membrane. This objective narrative review aims to provide an overview of pathophysiology, current treatment modalities, and future perspectives on this condition.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFPurpose: To identify structural markers of active retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) in foveal and parafoveal retinal layers using hand-held optical coherence tomography.
Methods: Hand-held optical coherence tomography images (n = 278) were acquired from a prospective mixed cross-sectional longitudinal observational study of 87 participants (23-36 weeks gestational age; n = 30 with ROP, n = 57 without ROP) between 31 and 44 weeks postmenstrual age excluding treated ROP and features of cystoid macular edema. Six retinal layer thicknesses from the fovea to the parafovea were analyzed at five locations up to 1,000 µ m, temporally and nasally.
Background: Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A) has emerged as a novel, fast, safe and non-invasive imaging technique of analyzing the retinal and choroidal microvasculature in vivo. OCT-A captures multiple sequential B-scans performed repeatedly over a specific retinal area at high speed, thus enabling the composition of a vascular map with areas of contrast change (high flow zones) and areas of steady contrast (slow or no flow zones). It therefore provides unique insight into the exact retinal or choroidal layer and location at which abnormal blood flow develops.

Patient Concerns: A 24 year-old male was referred originally by his optician at the Emergency Eye Department of the Leicester Royal Infirmary in October 2018 with visual field changes affecting the nasal field of vision in both eyes on routine eye examination. The patient reported ongoing headaches over the last 6 weeks to 8 weeks associated with simultaneous peripheral visual field changes.
Introduction: A lot of different techniques have been proposed in order to manage abduction limitation secondary to sixth nerve palsy; however, anterior segment ischemia remains a concern. The aim of this study was to evaluate the results of augmented vertical recti muscle transposition (VRT) with partial recession of medial rectus muscle (MR) for complete, chronic sixth nerve palsy, a new modified technique that could also minimize the risk for anterior segment ischemia (ASI).
Methods: In this nonrandomized 8-year (2009-2017) retrospective review, 20 patients with complete sixth nerve palsy and contracted MR were enrolled.
Introduction: To present a case series of three female patients with punctate inner choroidopathy. We report the outcomes after an essentially long follow-up period of up to 14 years and provide evidence of the effectiveness of intravitreal injections of bevacizumab and dexamethasone 0.7 mg in punctate inner choroidopathy patients with choroidal neovascular membrane formation.

Methods: A 10-year-old girl who was admitted to our hospital with low-grade fever, arthritis, and aching left eye with blurred vision was diagnosed with Reiter reactive arthritis. At the time of admittance, the ophthalmologic examination revealed keratitis; this mildly affected the vision.
