However, it is made computationally challenging by the need to construct large networks of chemical reactions that are relevant to the experimental conditions that kinetic models must mirror, with every reaction requiring accurate kinetic data. Here, we showcase , a new software package for constructing large-scale chemical reaction networks in a fully automated fashion by exploring chemical reaction space with a kinetics-driven algorithm; coupled to efficient machine-learning models of activation energies for sampled elementary reactions, we show how this approach readily enables generation and kinetic characterization of networks containing ∼10 chemical species and ≃10-10 reactions.

The aim of this study was to investigate the possible effect of prolonged LHE therapy on gut microbiota in healthy individuals and in patients with diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D).
Methods: In this prospective exploratory study, a total of 20 participants, including 12 healthy controls and 8 patients with IBS-D, received treatment with LHE (Magenfein Granulat, 1 sachet bid) for 6 weeks.

To obtain real-world information, we have performed an anonymous pharmacy-based patient survey among 1686 users of HBB, HBB + paracetamol, and peppermint oil. Based on the distinct but overlapping indications for the three OTC products, multiple logistic regression was applied to compare them in users reporting gastrointestinal cramps and pain, bloating, flatulence, or IBS as cardinal symptoms.

Background: A retrospective analysis of SUPERNOVA trial data showed that reductions in tidal volume to ultraprotective levels without significant increases in arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO ) for critically ill, mechanically ventilated patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) depends on the rate of extracorporeal carbon dioxide removal (ECCO R).
Methods: We used a whole-body mathematical model of acid-base balance to quantify the effect of altering carbon dioxide (CO ) removal rates using different ECCO R devices to achieve target PaCO levels in ARDS patients. Specifically, we predicted the effect of using a new, larger surface area PrismaLung+ device instead of the original PrismaLung device on the results from two multicenter clinical studies in critically ill, mechanically ventilated ARDS patients.

We developed a mathematical model of acid-base balance during extracorporeal therapy using ECCO R and continuous venovenous hemofiltration (CVVH) devices applied in series for the treatment of mechanically ventilated AKI patients. Published data from clinical studies of mechanically ventilated AKI patients treated by CVVH at known infusion rates of substitution fluid without ECCO R were used to adjust the model parameters to fit plasma levels of arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO ), arterial plasma bicarbonate concentration ([HCO ]), and plasma pH (as well as certain other unmeasured physiological variables).
