Implementation of Billing for Patient Portal Messages as E-visits in a Large Integrated Health System.

Background: Patient-provider communication through the patient portal has markedly increased in recent years. Some health care facilities implemented programs to enable providers to bill for responding to patient-initiated messages that require substantive medical decision making through an e-visit.

Role of Capecitabine in the Management of Gestational Trophoblastic Neoplasia: A Drug for Two Settings.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the role of capecitabine in the management of gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN). STUDY DESIGN: The medical records of 155 patients with GTN were reviewed. All patients were treated and followed at our center.

Assessment of dysmyelination with RAFFn MRI: application to murine MPS I.

Type I mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS I) is an autosomal recessive lysosomal storage disorder with neurological features. Humans and laboratory animals with MPS I exhibit various white matter abnormalities involving the corpus callosum and other regions. In this study, we first validated a novel MRI technique, entitled Relaxation Along a Fictitious Field in the rotating frame of rank n (RAFFn), as a measure of myelination and dysmyelination in mice.

MRI contrasts in high rank rotating frames.

Purpose: MRI relaxation measurements are performed in the presence of a fictitious magnetic field in the recently described technique known as RAFF (Relaxation Along a Fictitious Field). This method operates in the 2(nd) rotating frame (rank n = 2) by using a nonadiabatic sweep of the radiofrequency effective field to generate the fictitious magnetic field. In the present study, the RAFF method is extended for generating MRI contrasts in rotating frames of ranks 1 ≤ n ≤ 5.

Gestational trophoblastic disease: a 21-year review of the clinical experience at an Argentinean public hospital.

Objective: To analyze the clinical trends of gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD) in a public hospital of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Study Design: A review of the clinical records of 358 patients with a diagnosis of GTD admitted to Durand Trophoblastic Disease Center between 1990 and February 2011 was performed. Features of diagnosis, treatment and follow-up were analyzed.

Successful salvage of a relapsed high risk gestational trophoblastic neoplasia patient using capecitabine.

Background: Although most patients at high risk of Gestational Trophoblastic Neoplasia (GTN) respond to standard treatments, there is a group of patients that will die because of it. The use of new single or combination drugs in this population has become a priority.

Case Report: We present the case of a relapsed high risk choriocarcinoma patient who did not respond to several chemotherapy treatments nor to PET guided salvage surgery.
