Markers of Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition and Mucinous Histology Are Significant Predictors of Disease Severity and Tumor Characteristics in Early-Onset Colorectal Cancer.

Approximately 20% of patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) are diagnosed with a mucinous subtype of this tumor, have a worse prognosis, and often show resistance to available therapies. Molecules from the mucin family are involved in the regulation of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), which significantly determines the cancer aggressiveness. This study aimed to examine the diagnostic and prognostic significance of mucinous histology and EMT markers in patients with early-onset CRC and their association with disease severity and tumor characteristics.

Recognizing the Frequency of Exposure to Cyberbullying in Children: The Results of the National HBSC Study in Serbia.

We analyzed the health characteristics and risk behavior of two cohorts of children in Serbia; those who reported being exposed to cyberbullying and those who did not.

Pediatric stroke (PS) is an injury caused by the occlusion or rupture of a blood vessel in the central nervous system (CNS) of children, before or after birth. Hemiparesis is the most common motoric deficit associated with PS in children. Therefore, it is important to emphasize that PS is a significant challenge for rehabilitation, especially since the consequences may also appear during the child's growth and development, reducing functional capacity.

The necessity for implementation of DV evaluation in the pediatric population is of particular importance, since there is no clear consensus on the clinical assessment of such condition. The aims of our study were to evaluate the test/retest reliability and reproducibility of dysfunctional voiding and incontinence scoring system: Serbian version (DVISS) in patients with voiding and incontinence dysfunctions without structural deformities, and to estimate cut-off value for DVISS.

Hydrochemical characteristics of mine waters from abandoned mining sites in Serbia and their impact on surface water quality.

Upon completion of exploration and extraction of mineral resources, many mining sites have been abandoned without previously putting environmental protection measures in place. As a consequence, mine waters originating from such sites are discharged freely into surface water. Regional scale analyses were conducted to determine the hydrochemical characteristics of mine waters from abandoned sites featuring metal (Cu, Pb-Zn, Au, Fe, Sb, Mo, Bi, Hg) deposits, non-metallic minerals (coal, Mg, F, B) and uranium.

[Dermatomyositis associated with metastatic rectal adenocarcinoma: case report].

Treatment of retrocaval ureter.

Retrocaval ureter is a developmental anomaly of the course of the ureter in relation to the inferior vena cava. In spite of the fact the pathophysiological consequences of this anomaly are very serious, clinical manifestations are relatively poor. Experience with the management of this disorder in our 4 patients justifies the therapy we applied.

Urolithiasis in childhood.

On the basis of epidemiological study in closed children's population of Bratislava (350 000 inhabitants, out of them 70 000 children) the conclusions about falling urolithiasis incidence in children of urban population are drawn. Analysis and clinical evaluations of 287 children's patients with urolithiasis shows that in solitary calculi (in partial casts as well) the results of treatment are very good, repeated recurrences are rare. The results are considerably worse in multiple and great staghorn stones.

[Hemodynamics of the liver. II. Hemodynamics of the dog liver after resection of 70% of the liver and ligation of the left branch of the portal vein].

Blood supply to the liver was determined by help of the direct method after 70 per cent hepatic resection and after ligation of the left branch of portal vein in dogs. The total blood supply remains unchanged after both surgical procedures, while the circulation in the remaining lobes, resp. in those patent for portal blood stream, considerably increases.
