The behavioral component of sexual inhibition and its relation with testosterone levels: An fMRI study in transgender and cisgender individuals.

Many transgender individuals report having difficulties with initiating and seeking sexual contacts. Relatively to cisgender individuals, transgender individuals are more likely to avoid sexual activity, indicating that the groups might differ in the neural underpinnings of the behavioral component of sexual inhibition. In this fMRI study, transgender (n = 33) and cisgender (n = 34) participants performed an Approach Avoidance Task (AAT) assessing sexual inhibition.

Introduction: The treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus remains challenging, as it goes beyond adequate glycemic control, in particular addressing weight, blood pressure and other contributors to cardiovascular disease. In addition, the progressive nature of type 2 diabetes mellitus demands the intensification and combination of glucose lowering therapies. In many patients, there is a clinical inertia for the initiation of insulin therapy, leading to failure in reaching glycemic targets in many patients.

Sodium-glucose Cotransporter 2 Inhibitors and Ketoacidosis - Clinical Implications in the Treatment of Patients with Type 2 Diabetes.

The use of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors is associated with an increased risk of diabetic ketoacidosis. This risk has been reported in particular in off-label use of these agents in type 1 diabetes, but reports of risks in type 2 diabetes patients also exist. In type 2 diabetes ketoacidosis is rare and is present particularly in patients who have undergone prolonged starvation, serious infection, alcohol abuse or surgery.

A rare cause of ascites: myxoedema ascites.

The case report describes an 88-year-old patient who presented with new-onset ascites. After excluding frequent causes of ascites, he was diagnosed with myxoedema ascites. Myxoedema ascites is rare.
