Our objectives were to describe mpox case patients who worked while infectious and the subsequent workplace contact tracing efforts, risk assessments, and outcomes.
Methods: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention requested information from health departments in the United States in September 2022 to identify people with confirmed or probable mpox who worked outside the home while infectious, either before or after diagnosis, from June 1 through August 31, 2022.
We assessed early antibody responses after two doses of JYNNEOS (IMVANEX) mpox vaccine in the District of Columbia (D.C.) in persons at high risk for mpox without characteristic lesions or rash.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFObjectives: Adults with perinatally acquired human immunodeficiency virus (PHIV) infection may be at increased risk for nonacquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) diseases, including systemic hypertension (HTN). The purpose of this study was to examine the prevalence of HTN among young adults with PHIV compared with recently infected and uninfected young adults.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study of young adults with PHIV, frequency matched on race and sex to a stratified random sample of young adults with nonperinatally acquired HIV (NPHIV) and HIV-uninfected young adults.
The generalized Born/surface area (GB/SA) continuum model for solvation free energy is a fast and accurate alternative to using discrete water molecules in molecular simulations of solvated systems. However, computational studies of large solvated molecular systems such as enzyme-ligand complexes can still be computationally expensive even with continuum solvation methods simply because of the large number of atoms in the solute molecules. Because in such systems often only a relatively small portion of the system such as the ligand binding site is under study, it becomes less attractive to calculate energies and derivatives for all atoms in the system.

Small molecules that bind their biological receptors with high affinity and selectivity can be isolated from randomized pools of combinatorial libraries. RNA-protein interactions are important in many cellular functions, including transcription, RNA splicing, and translation. One example of such interactions is the mechanism of trans-activation of HIV-1 gene expression that requires the interaction of Tat protein with the trans-activation responsive region (TAR) RNA, a 59-base stem-loop structure located at the 5' end of all nascent HIV-1 transcripts.

Sequence-selective peptide binding is a difficult problem because small peptides are highly flexible and there are no clear rules for designing peptide-binding molecules as there are for the nucleic acids.
