Background: School-based interventions and strategies targeting physical activity (PA) and eating patterns have successfully addressed unhealthy behaviors contributing to excess weight in school-age children. The purpose of this study was to investigate South Carolina (SC) public school administrators' perceptions of and experiences with weight-related issues in schools and associated barriers and facilitators to awareness, selection, and implementation of school-based healthy PA and eating interventions and strategies.

Using presence/absence data from over 10,000 Ves SINE insertions, we reconstructed a phylogeny for 11 species. With nearly one-third of individual Ves gene trees discordant with the overall species tree, phylogenetic conflict appears to be rampant in this genus. From the observed conflict, we infer that ILS is likely a major contributor to the discordance.

Heterogeneity is recognized as a major barrier in efforts to improve the care and outcomes of patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI). Even within the narrower stratum of moderate and severe TBI, current management approaches do not capture the complexity of this condition characterized by manifold clinical, anatomical, and pathophysiologic features. One approach to heterogeneity may be to resolve undifferentiated TBI populations into endotypes, subclasses that are distinguished by shared biological characteristics.

While the heat transfer and the flow dynamics in a cylindrical Rayleigh-Bénard (RB) cell are rather independent of the aspect ratio Γ (diameter/height) for large Γ, a small-Γ cell considerably stabilizes the flow and thus affects the heat transfer. Here, we first theoretically and numerically show that the critical Rayleigh number for the onset of convection at given Γ follows Ra_{c,Γ}∼Ra_{c,∞}(1+CΓ^{-2})^{2}, with C≲1.49 for Oberbeck-Boussinesq (OB) conditions.

The French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment (INRAE) conserves and distributes five vegetable collections as seeds: the aubergine* (in this article the word aubergine refers to eggplant), pepper, tomato, melon and lettuce collections, together with their wild or cultivated relatives, are conserved in Avignon, France. Accessions from the collections have geographically diverse origins, are generally well-described and fixed for traits of agronomic or scientific interest and have available passport data. In addition to currently conserving over 10,000 accessions (between 900 and 3000 accessions per crop), the centre maintains scientific collections such as core collections and bi- or multi-parental populations, which have also been genotyped with SNP markers.

Objectives: The aim was to investigate the impact of a group-based weight management programme on symptoms of depression and anxiety compared with self-help in a randomised controlled trial (RCT).

Method: People with overweight (Body Mass Index [BMI]≥28kg/m2) were randomly allocated self-help (n = 211) or a group-based weight management programme for 12 weeks (n = 528) or 52 weeks (n = 528) between 18/10/2012 and 10/02/2014. To do this, we have developed a new visual design language that uses tetrahedral building blocks to express the structural features of biological molecules and organelles in crowded cellular environments. The tetrahedral language enables more efficient animation and user interaction in an immersive environment.

The ARTIC Network provides a common resource of PCR primer sequences and recommendations for amplifying SARS-CoV-2 genomes.
